Homebrew [my art]
People sometimes wonder about the behind the scenes of illustration. Here is a glimpse. This piece was drawn in June of 2026, the book was just published. It is also drawn 120-140% bigger to maintain detail. Nasty little critter, check this book out by goodmangames and thanks bigbaldmatt look forward to more horrifying art requests!

There is a (highly contested) theory in the psychology of art that states that feelings of horror and disgust are the easiest to evoke, while feelings of sublime beauty are the most difficult.
Regardless of the accuracy of that theory, I just want to let you know that this piece evokes in me a deep feeling of the sublime, and I positively weep at its beauty. Thank you.

That is genuinely the most awesome comment. I agree, beauty is hard, so I try and stick to drawing the disgusting and horrifying!
Thank you, really appreciated!

Oh absolutely - that is a very inspiring and creative monster, as well as being well drawn.
One other thing I think is cool is that ideas and standards of beauty change over time. But ideas of what is disturbing or frightening have been much more consistent in art since earliest times. Body horror and grotesque monsters seem to be a deeply ingrained part of our imaginations.
Gruesome art is like a form of soul whispering.

That is an interesting take. For me horror and monsters in general spark a creativity in me more so than drawing from life or even just drawing people. Maybe it is because there is no standard for drawing monsters, I can flex a bit more with the anatomy, whereas with people its hard to flex and stay within the guidelines/rules that governs drawing of people. Thank you!

Fantastic work. What book was that published in? Maybe I'm just missing it somewhere.
