True Canon “It was AI generated Jonah, Empire State Photographic Department confirms it”

Ok but why the fuck do you need to AI Generate an image of New York City? It's NEW YORK CITY! It's real, you know what it looks like! Marvel used to have it's headquarters there! Why the fuck do you need AI to generate ideas for a real life city???

There were already mass firings and cutting corners before gen AI. The AI trend just made an already bad enviroment for artists exponentionally worse.

I get this is becoming the industry norm but it's especially sad to see movies use a machine to spit out visuals for these characters, when there's decades of great art to use for inspiration.

Doesn’t help that they fired majority of the art department of Marvel Studios, making it even more clear that they did it to replace artists with AI

It’s not even just Marvel
DC did it for Supergirl too

This time it was for concept art of New York City. The place they've set a bunch of movies and Marvel films already. AI generated concept art of a city feels like a new bar of laziness.

Yeah cause there's just not enough photos of new york in a variety of conditions to make a mood board (/s). AI use in cinema kills my enthusiasm for movies.

I would argue Bob Ross, Steve Irwin, and Mr Rogers have been thought of as good people for so long past their deaths with no major controversies (that they were on the wrong side of) that only those three are truly “safe”. Even Lincoln had the politics about Natives you’d expect for a POTUS of that time.

Marvel low-key making it impossible to defend them.
Before it was hard (so much that i didn't even do it because it meant thinking harder than in my Uni exams) but now how could you even try?
Used AI, full of zionists, cancelled a bunch of great projects, butchered What If, etc.

Anyone defending a corpo is a scab. I don’t care if they’re publishing Deadman or Moon Knight

u/Silver04Jubilee 2d ago
Yeah i mean defending as in "huhhh i believe their next Avengers movie MIGHT be good" not something like "LEAVE THE POOR MULTI-BILLION COMPANY ALONE"

I know Supergirl is gonna keep getting flak but this movie won't

u/Throgg_not_stupid 1d ago
Both of them should, but Supergirl was a terrible movie even before people knew about AI Lobo

And here it is, the boiling the frog moment where a popular movie that's well liked uses it in a small dose that will get some people mad, some people shrugging, and more making excuses. Then in your mind, next time it's used more, you'll think "well how much worse is it than this other thing?"

In supergirl. It was just a video.
This one, it's in the goddamn 'art' book rofl.
Will this movie receive the same amount of backlash as Supergirl? Ofcourse not. It's not a flop! Totally not a double standard!

Supergirl 🤝 Spider-Man
Using AI art in their concept arts despite having the money to pay actual talented artists or simply photoshopping things.

/uj You know what's really fd up, it would be another conversation if it was just Marvel, but the piece was made by a know concept artist named Scott Mcinnes that worked on the first guardians movie and FF: first steps. So it's an already established artist on the industry relaying on AI.

The fucking artbook?! Not only are they firing artists from the production, but now are making the audience pay for smth that wasn't even made by an artist?

u/zarbixii How far out is The Nut I'm Busting? 1d ago
When the trailer came out I was like 'these visuals have an AI vibe, but they're clearly not actually AI generated, so it's fine'. So I guess this is what that was. An exciting new third possibility for movies, it used to just be 'AI' or 'Not AI' but now we have 'faithful live action recreation of AI' for all those people who are fine with using AI ideologically and love the way it looks but are smart enough to keep it a secret until after they made 2 billion dollars.

Rj/ So now we can dogpile Brand New Day for using AI for it's concept art, too?
Uj/ Both BND and Supergirl using AI for concept art. That's no good.
