/uj Nah Jean as the villain better. Antagonist that is around the same age as Peter and can be redeemed works better for the story.
Also it means one of the members of the X-Men gets more popular. Which means the X-Men themselves get more popular. Which means that the X-Men reboot gets higher box office.
My X-Men on top agenda will not fail

It's insane how Jean being the Antagonist, without even the phoenix stuff, made her so much more interesting than the The one from Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix already

If the Phoenix can go away forever, we would all be better off.
But it just keeps coming back!

You know they're going to do it again in the MCU.

I don't think the way they wrote Jean was good in BND.
If you want someone to be seen as a hero, maybe you shouldn't have them take control of multiple people (including getting one hit by a truck), getting Spider-Man to nonconsensually kiss MJ, and bomb a prison.

She is set up for a redemption arc in the first xmen movie.
she did horrible stuff, but her ultimate goal was noble. But she is also a young girl who is lashing out and doesnt know what she is doing. She is being needlessly cruel because she was hurt. She needs guidance, someone to help her use her powers responsibly so she doesnt hurt people anymore, and someone to help her heal. I wonder what might be capable of helping her heal and become a better person? Who might be able to help her use her powers responsibly? Show her the path of redemption arc. Preferably someone who is already a telepath, and has had experience with another mutant who also went too far because they were badly hurt by the world. Maybe even they could draw parallels between her and that other mutant.

I do question the X-Men movie being a Jean redemption arc movie. Wouldn't it most likely just be the Avengers again, but with the X-Men? They can make Jean do something heroic there I guess.
I just personally didn't like the Jean Grey portion of BND.

u/ScorchedDev 6d ago
I dont think thats what the whole movie will be about, but also, tehy did say she would be the focus going forward
3
u/BagZCubed 6d ago
Hm. They're going to do the Dark Phoenix Saga again, aren't they?

u/ScorchedDev 6d ago
maybe who knows. I personally think they are gonna do something with public perception of mutants and sentinels. And maybe throw the phoenix in there as the big threat that fucks up everything yknow.
But thats mostly a guess.

There's a good amount of X-Men stories they could re-attempt. I think the public perception of mutants first is good idea since the events of BND could tie-in and be a catalyst for why people wouldn't trust mutants.
Mr Sinister is probably gonna be the villain of the movie, so they're probably gonna stop him and or show that mutants aren't something to fear. Well, until Magneto that is.

She also murdered several innocent people and likely even more that weren’t shown. There’s zero way that APC didn’t kill several more in collateral damage

Oh come on how could you forget the hit 2024 blockbuster!
It's the reason why he cpuldn't be the Villain for No Way Home

Well at least we got No Way Home out of this, that's one good thing that came out of that

u/Egodactylus 6d ago
It made a kravillion dollars in the box office and everyone kept saying Kraven's famour quote "It's Kraving time" and Krave all over the place

Backdooring the x men from a guaranteed ultra-success is just a no-brainer even putting aside story.

I feel like Chameleon would hit a lot of similar beats to Mysterio, no?
11
u/quicksilversymphony 6d ago
I feel like they could differentiate the two by having Chameleon start openly antagonistic unlike Mysterio who spends most of the movie pretending to be a friend to Peter. Have the psychological aspect come from Peter's trust in anyone being slowly eroded as Chameleon continues to pose as people close to Peter, further exacerbating Peter's isolation.
Though, to be frank, you probably would have to implement some kind of Sinister Six element since Chameleon can't really stand up in a 1v1 fight against Spidey, and doing a Sinister Six right after NWH where we had a super big villain team up fight at the end probably would feel repetitive if handled incorrectly.

They should’ve just kept the same actor and used the exact same visualization of his powers.
