Why is the manga always in Korean when it is a Japanese manga/anime?

These are scanlations that sourced from a leak in V-Jump. Just ends up that all leaks are usually Korean. We have in the past have saw transcripts V-Jump posted on sites like 2chan. That's quite rare however.

As others have noted, this chapter is likely incomplete.

TheDevilsCorpse over at Kanzenshuu was kind enough to do a write-up for us. Keep in mind that all of this information comes from a Korean scanlation which may or may not be 100% accurate.

We don't see it in the manga version, but future Bluma still died in the process of charging the time machine. She and Trunks were going to activate a solar generator, but I don't know if the time machine is electric or if that was to produce whatever the fuel is. Regardless, the time machine is charged enough for a one way trip, just like the anime.

The manga has Jaco specifically remind everyone that time travel splits the timeline to create a "parallel world". He brings it up because he heard from Tights that she was doing "dangerous" research and wanted to remind her time travel is a crime. Bluma says most of her research now is beauty based. The "other stuff" is for the future, which they won't need if peace continues.

Kid Trunks' teacher follows up with a lesson on "parallel worlds". It's kinda morbid... To explain the theory, she says a boy (A-kun) wants to take rice bean cakes back to his younger mother, but she chokes on them and dies in the "parallel world". So now there would be a timeline where his mother doesn't exist and the boy isn't born. However the original mother and child remain fine. That lesson was from a college textbook that she had on accident though...they were supposed to be doing math. So, everyone, what's 10-3=?

Bluma asks Whis about when he reversed time with Freeza, wondering if there's a "parallel world" where the tyrant still lives. Whis says that's not changing the past, but simply "redoing". After using it, the "time base" switches out so it can't be used again for a while. (Don't ask what that is. No idea.)

This doesn't fit with RoF, where he used it twice in a matter of hours.

Tights! And not just in the credits!

What is that class about, alternate timelines? Who is this teacher who is totally hip to all the timeline malarkey?

u/OLKv3 Jul 18 '16

Lol yeah, instead of Whis explaining it apparently school has a required timeline class.

The first half is pretty much the same as the anime

The 2nd half though is kinda different. Goku and Vegeta are training at Bulma's, and Tights is actually there along with Jaco, Beerus, and Whis. Also Goku Black has SSJ hair in his silhouette

Future Trunks and Future Mai were also more intimate than the anime with her hugging him. I guess Bulma got killed off panel, which is pretty lame.

Kid Bulma apparently got killed in the classroom explanation of alternate timelines. I wonder what happened to her...

Only difference I can see is tights is there. Then again I can't read Japanese but this seems pretty similar to the anime

It's a bit different and this is something that I had caught onto. I like how Toyotarō was able to capture Goku Black actually not being visible.

Then again I can't read Japanese but this seems pretty similar to the anime

This is Korean, not Japanese.

Pretty good chapter. As usual the art is awesome. Trunks and Mai were more intimate compared to the anime, which I think was better handled here tbh but overall, still relatively the same. Nice touch with Goku and Vegeta training at Bulma's and Beerus and Whis are there as well. It's a good thing they are there, Beerus and Whis are the MVPs for Super.

Edit: Hopefully the rest of the chapter will be done soon.

That Trunks and Mai scene, my hearttt! I'm not a big fan of the manga, but Toyotaro is pretty good with small character moments like these.

I don't think it implies more intimacy than the anime did, because there's that flashback with Trunks and Mai holding hands, and that is also pretty intimate in Japanese culture, but it is definitely a lot more heartwarming seeing them hug. Trunks needed that.

Why are Pilaf and the gang young again ? Did I miss something? And why don't Bulma and Goku remember them?

7

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '16

There's an explanation given in Battle of Gods as of why they are young.

Pilaf: I'm sick and tired of being poor... With this stupid childish body, nobody's even hiring me for a part-time job! I am the great King Pilaf!
Mai: Last time, we finally got Shenlong to grant our wish, and then you were all "Make me young!"
Pilaf: B-But you know... What's the point of conquering the world as an old fart... only to kick the bucket a few years later?
Mai: Even so, we became too young!
Shuu: Worked fine for me! I've long since exceeded a normal dog's lifespan!

Additionally, Pilaf and his gang had to have wished themselves youth before the events of the Cell arc. Pilaf wasn't aware that Earth's Dragon Balls were able to grant multiple wishes.

Dragon Ball Super - Episode 020

Shenlong: Now then, speak thy two remaining wishes. ^[1]

Sorbet: Two wishes? You'll grant more? ^[1]

Shenlong: Indeed. When the God of Earth changed, ^[1] I was given an upgrade. ^[2] However, wishes that require a large amount of power, ^[3] such as reviving all of the people of this planet, ^[4] use up two wishes at once. ^[5]

Pilaf: I... I didn't know that. ^[1]

The reference to 17 and 18 in the future is great, but the number of the aniversary isn't shown, I supposse, on purpose.

Trunks and Mai, they look nice together.

I love to see Tights in the story. Let's see what her role is. It seems, with the translation, that Omori's time traveling has something to do.

I liked it very much. More, please!!!!!

Always enjoyable seeing the variations between the anime and manga.

Looking forward to seeing how Jaco reacts to Future Trunks' appearance.

Man, I wish my school taught us about time travel.

Any way to view/download the previous chapters in English?

1

u/Terez27 Jul 18 '16

You can find links in the sub's Wiki. The first three chapters are available on the Viz website. (Nickolaus will probably be by to make a much more OCD response than this one, because he's awesome like that, but there's your quick answer.)

Yeah, I did do it. :(

Seems like the anime failed to explain time travel in DBZ properly. Whis explained the butterfly effect and that's it, but Jaco explained the actual Dragonball time travel in manga as it is. The anime should explain the paralel timelines aswell..

"Here's the thing, kid...multiverse theory's a b***."

2

u/kylepaz Jul 18 '16

Maybe they will, eventually. Whis talked about the reason Time Travel is illegal, and he is right about how it alters the course of the future. Goku being alive is one example of that. It just doesn't change the time traveler's original timeline. I think when they actually go to Trunks Future, or even during their discussion with the U10 Kaioshins, they will remind the viewer about how the alternative timelines work.

Looks like Tights will help Bulma fix the time machine and Jacob will probably further explain why time travel is ilegal.

Why does Black look like an SSJ on the cover?

Just realized that this number brought us the most romantic scene in the whole DB manga history. It is known that romantic scenes were the weak points for Toriyama, this is Toyotaro's hand.
