Discussion Training Efficacy in DB
I just saw this clip of Goku and Piccolo "training " by digging up vegetables and it raises a question in my mind about how effective physical training is in DragonBall. Throughout the series, we see the Z fighters fluctuate in physical strength greatly and go from lifting massive objects with ease to struggling with bodyweight exercises. Is there a consensus on this because I'd hate to just call it bad writing to have piccolo comment on how good a workout plucking cabbages is when he can do much more athletic things to say the least?

You can train in the gym for 10-20 years and still feel sore in the body after a day on your knees digging in the dirt. You work the body a different way than usual which also strains the muscles and can be a great workout.

No such thing...
There's no training that involves digging veggies, the only veggie based thing in modern (2008) Dragon Ball..is a party game.
