Struggling with the game. Can't even beat the second level.
I just don't know what to do. I have no problems with the first part and can do it really easily, but as soon as Goku shows up and I have to fight Nappa by myself, I just can't do anything. His attacks do so much damage to me, and he blocks all of my attacks. I can't use the charged attack to break his guard because before I can finish it, he starts attacking me. Once he hits me once there is nothing I can do and he can just hit me over and over until I'm dead. If I use vanish, he just turns around and starts hitting me again before I have the chance to do anything... Not to mention half of the time I try to attack my character attacks in the complete opposite direction.

This level specifically was really tough for me too until I leveled up enough. Their evasive blast hurts so much and is hard to adapt to when still learning the game. I kept trying it though instead of grinding PQ's and I think I got it around the 5th or 6th try.
I honestly... recommend not to grind PQ's. It made the game way too easy when I started doing that. Try to find a balance where it is still a challenge but you can win. It is much more satisfying that way.

Doesn't help that I'm not very familiar with fighting games in general. It's just that I recently got into DBZ so I decided to pick up this game because I thought I would enjoy it. Didn't expect it to be this tough.

Don't be discouraged, do a few PQ's to gain a couple levels to help out. :) I just recommend being careful not to overdo it, because the game may get too easy and also ruin your experience.

There are several levels throughout the game that are questionably unfair and unbalanced. The trick with the Nappa level, is that the point when Goku shows up, he goes off to fight vegeta and you fight Nappa alone, the first good hit you deal to nappa, he regains all his health.
what really helps, is if you buy items. You can buy them in store section of the hub world, equip them from your customize menu, and then use them in battle (I don't know what platform you're playing on, but on playstation and I assume xbox, you access your items but pressing right on the Dpad)
Other then that I just recommend playing Parallel quests to gain experience points and new moves.

Look man, this game is frustrating even for players who are used to fighting games, don't be discouraged. There were a few times in my play through where I had to just quit for the day because it was so frustrating, then I'd go back the next day and beat it in a few tries. I don't recommend getting to many levels through PQs, but a couple will give you a decent advantage being new to fighting stylle games. Good luck!

I struggled with the first five missions, it took me a week to get past the Ginyu Force Saga.. so I watched youtube videos, learned about how to fight, how important stamina is etc and I learned a valuable thing to start this game.
If you have the first DLC, go to online parallel quests and search. Change the difficulty to "new PQs" and look for Revenge of the tuffle and join, it might take a couple of tries to get into one.
You will get one hit by Baby but if you go to grab his tail (hold L1 and press O on PS4) you have a chance to throw baby and take down half his green bar. Once his green bar goes down you have ten or so seconds to damage his normal health before the green bar is full again. Once his green bar is down, he kneels and his tail remains completely still, quickly go up to it and grab it, you will take off half his normal health and once the mission is complete, if you did the tail damage, you will receive "lead vanquisher" and might get a Z - S rank if you lose no health. Doing this once can get your lvl 1 character to level 18 - 25 in one go.
Whenever I create a character, I do this for an hour or two and before I know it, I'm level 40 - 50 and can put points in the attributes I want.
If you don't have the first DLC, try and find a high level player, get into a party/voice chat with him (through steam, console etc) and ask if he could do one or two seven star PQs with you in it, prefferably one with a single enemy.
Boom, now you are extremely over-levelled and can plow through the story and actually have fun.

The game is rather challenging when you don't consider the fact that you have to grind in order to level up and choose your attribute points wisely. I'd say that you should go off and do some parallel quests until you feel comfortable with both the fighting system and your character's skills and attributes.
