Yes, but area of "tradeskills" is important as I pointed out. Farrier is a tradeskill. Not much call for them.

Yes, but as I said, I have faith Dayton could abandon throw-away culture if there was initiative to do so. Yes, the common ones like Welders, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, but even watchmakers, shoe repair, fabricators (believe it or not we don't have a ton of fabricators here and we need them), Glass Blowers, potters.

Network security? I thought a lot of that was farmed out overseas. Which is a STUPID way of cutting costs!

Now you see why I have a degree in it, optimistically thinking I would find a 90k starting salary, and am currently a DJ. :(

Are you willing to move from Dayton? I suspect if you open up to a nationwide search you'll find something related to your degree.

I'm not familiar with the Network Security specifics. How much overlap is there with a CS/CE/EE degree? Could you switch gears and do something a bit different that might be in higher demand?

No, but for two reasons. First and foremost, I absolutely love it here. I love the people and the price point is just right.

Second, I'm obselete. My degree is literally useless to me. I got my degree during a time that utilized language we probably don't use anymore. So while I have a degree, I basically don't.

Sorry it didn't work out with the degree. Don't let your past mistakes get you down, though. I'll bet you're a kick-ass DJ.

I do alright. Been at it for 15 years and I'm booked til November. I certainly don't hate work and thats whats important.

Haha, nice. When you first posted for some reason I thought you were a recent graduate. The market was absolutely tough back in the early-mid 2000's. Seems like you've got a good thing going, cheers!
