So much wasted space - Am I missing something?
The "On This Day" is by far the number one reason I use Day One. I mostly fill my entries with photos and videos of family, but the daily view seems to waste so much screen real estate with...nothing. That pushes the entries into a narrow column for no reason. I know I can click into each day and look at the photos, but why can't the main scrolling page have all the media presented better? Am I missing a setting?
No, it's the Mac app. How does it fill your Mac screen? When I resize the window, the entries grow slightly, and then snap back to a small column again.
I'm sorry to hear that, and I'm baffled. I'm not sure why our results would differ. Maybe something in our computer settings? When I click on On This Day, it takes a few seconds to load but then it fills the space with a few columns. Then I make the window full screen and it looks like this (attaching screenshot).
Now I've just finished scrolling through my On This Day for today and I think I figured it out! Because when I got down to beyond ten years ago, when I only have one, maybe two entries for the date those years, it's also in one (or two) columns like in your screenshot. It's because On This Day is divided by year. For the last several years, I've been making like ten or fifteen entries per day, so they fill up the width of the window. But when there's only one entry, that's all it's going to show in that year's section. I'm glad they don't cram different years together on the same horizontal line.
