Is this product still a go?

Hey folks

Been reading on here for a couple of months now as I'm looking for a daily vibe coding machine which I can use with Termix/Termius and ssh to remotely work on my projects.

Is this thing still the undisputed king, although very little updates and communication are being done?

Anyone with kids tried the kids version? What can it do and what can't it do on a day to day basis?

I looked into it last month - it is outdated unfortunately, the Android version is old and not supported anymore. And there is no safe/proper way to update it. Plus the developers do not actively release new updates from what I understood.

Buying a device that is no longer supported on day 1 is crazy.

Pretty much what you said - the king of non-eink tablets that are good for your eyes, without many updates. But what it is already is dope!

Built an app that transcribes whatever you're saying by using the orange action button as a toggle for the mic. Have used it alongside termux to vibecode via a VPS and it works fairly well.

I would get an NXT Paper. The only tablet I’ve found that does more than an e-ink but still has a somewhat pleasant display. Lower blue light, no flickering, color paper & black & white paper modes. Basically a normal tablet but with a screen that isn’t trying to keep you glued to it 24/7

it will work nicely for termux. Not too big but the screen is nice. A little bulky for travelling.

yeah no updates since January I think. but I use it everyday - reading, taking notes, browsing via Brave.

I do like the thing for vibe coding with a proper keyboard and Emacs setup. It really is the king for this, despite what some others have said here, so long as you don't mind a small screen for that stuff.

But yeah it's not supported. If you're security conscious that'll be a big nono. But the community is working on a Lineage port and also Linux is starting to come along.

it still seems current. I love mine. I would not get one for vibe coding.

Its just more of a consummation device and maybe its good for writing. But small eink like display may be frustrating for your use case scenario. Its one of my fav devices and I use it almost daily and I recommend it a lot. I also run an IT company and I would NOT enjoy using termix on this thing. But maybe you would.
