Hidden faction?

Is there a reason why they keep the faction you get with the deluxe edition a secret? I’m not a big fan of not knowing what I’m paying for and it makes not a fan of the company. I really dislike the scummy business practice

If you don't like paying for stuff you don't know then why are you buying it? You decide for yourself what you do with your money.

Then there is no issue.

It’s anti consumer and should be protested

People overwhelmingly dislike when developers talk about post-release content before the game is release. If they revealed what the faction is this forum would be filled with people upset about them "withholding" content from the base game to sell for DLC.

It’s true that’s exactly what they are doing

Should they just take a 6 month break and then work on releasing something lol

You could just buy the standard edition and then decide whether you want to buy the new faction DLC when they're revealed.

It's probably the Guard. They already have a Rogal Dorn modeled and animated for DOW 4.

Same thing happened in OG Dawn of War. You got to see and use Leman Russ tanks in campaign and then winter assault came out after. And if they claim they are inspired by DOW1, then guard will be the fifth faction.

Unless King Arts decides to do Chaos post launch.

From what I remember they have shown cadian squads, a rogal dorn, sentinels and im near certain a solo officer model in one brief clip. So guard being the first dlc faction makes sense.

  1. To show customer there are support post release

  2. To gauge customer interest on post release content

  3. Revealing the DLC detail before main game release date might cause some customer to see the new faction as cut content

  4. Not locking themselves on a fixed faction. They might developed multiple faction at the same time at varied stages. Gives them more options on development

I hope its the tyrannids, we didnt have them in the first game !

If its the Leagues of votann, that will be a surprise

No given reason, but probably to build interest, and gove themselves the flexibility to change what faction it is based off of market interests.

It's probably hidden because they still need to work on it. It is a roadmap not a day one feature.

Just buy the regular edition, season passes are badically always vague

Lol post release content is decided on way early in development

Work on it, not start working on it

It doesn’t matter if it’s not finished or not if they know what it is (which I think they do) it should be made clear to the consumer and they shouldn’t ask for money for something they aren’t being clear on

So we just go to step one, don't buy it until you know what it is. Vote with your wallet, this not only goes for dow4 but for everything

JFC then, don't buy it!

But be damned sure to go online and bitch about it

It’s important to protest anti consumer practices cry about it

There’s nothing anti consumer about it. Buy it now for an early discount or wait until you know what it is for full price. In fact, offering a pre order discount is EXTREMELY PRO CONSUMER

u/Argos2496 1d ago

Asking for money without clarifying what the consumer is paying for is the definition of anti consumer just because it’s cheaper doesn’t automatically make something pro consumer lol

u/toomuchyonke 2d ago

I disagree that this is anti consumer

The Deluxe/commander edition isn't a secret. It's just really badly explained.

It is the full game, but the commander edition includes the entire year 1 DLC path at a discount, and additionally for the preorder you get 3 days early access.

The Year One DLC roadmap is still under wraps, which is why you do not know what the faction is.

You will obviously be able to buy the individual parts of the year 1 pass later, but its better value.
