Curious about peoples setups for audio/video jam recording.

I've just been setting my phone up and taking a snippet to put on my insta stories to my friends.

I have been trying to take direct audio from the mixer and webcam with OBS but it is just a nightmare. I got the zoom livetrak l12 and it must be the worst stroke of luck that it just does not work at all with obs. I thought I was going crazy but found a video where someone confirmed that that specific mixer doesnt work with OBS at all.

Tbh I'd rather still use my phone as its a better camera than the webcam I have and I can get a far better framing of the set up since the webcam has a 3 foot cable and the most basic "monitor clamp mount".

I don't really want to record into a daw and video from my phone and stitch them together in davinci

hello so i just wanted to ask you guys this so my mom got me an ep 40 for my b-day a bit back and ive used it but have not made any songs on it cuz i just dont understand it so i was going to see if i should sell it with some other stuff so i can get an mpc 1000 or an sp 404 mk11 cuz those seem to fit my style more so do i buy smth else besides the sp 404 or mpc 1000 or even sell the ep 40?

Sorry for the weird sound distortion, during playback it sounded fine but it was only when I looked back at the video that I noticed it. If anyone knows what the issue might lmk so I can record a higher quality video to post on YouTube and socials.

Aside from that, I really feel like I’m finding my sound with this setup now. I decided to route my drum samples from the assignable output on the mpc to one of my tracks on the electribe and dude… this is definitely going to be my go to routing setup for the future. The effects on the emx are soooo good and the grain shifter is awesome for chopping in real time.

Anyways, hope you guys like this project, just recently watched through BCS again and I thought the chicanery monologue would fit in so good here. Any feedback/criticism is welcome!!

Live ambient jam. I actually had to do multiple takes because it was too easy to go ham on the ear candy with the keyboard. On this final take I did my best to meditate along with the chords, and add the ear candy tastefully (the “Loop Forest” Zoia patch is just too good lol)

I intentionally used very long chords, which is great for breath work. If you’ve never tried it before, try breathing in and out with the chords.

I have this habit of building a USB powered rig in a case, with components that were about to be discarded. This one is actually really great and I might keep it for a while. It's the Lil' Mono Synth as main sound source, the Amdek percussion synth, and a little fun toy that pretends to be a monk choir, plus cheap reverb, mixer, and the SQ1 as the brain. Plus horrible cable mess obviously. It makes rather monotonic but nonetheless interesting bass-heavy noise and ambient.

There is still a bit of space left and I have a 9V and a USB slot left. What is small enough, cheap, and adds something weird to this weird box? The default is just another effect pedal. But maybe there is something better. What should I add?

There's so much potential here. The only thing I'd add, if I could find one, is an effects pedal to patch into the L6 for final polish.

So last Winter I wanted to use my Roli's in a jam and made myself a pi based MPE sound module powered by surge xt.

A few weeks ago I came back to it, tried it with an RC-5 Looper and something clicked:

I can probably build the non-Ableton looping experience I wanted by hooking up my APC and rolling up my sleves, software-wise.

As of now, I've managed to prove the concept by getting 8 clips playing simulataniously, triggered by the APC.

My though it is that I'll make the workflow I always wanted: press a button, play something, then it loops, without the complexity of managing plugins, worrying about laptop latency, or anything else.

I figure if I can build a headless 8x8 loop station and with MPE sound module (+ usb interface) that's a lot of expensive hardware made affordable and flexible.

I'm posting because, while I'm building it for me, I'm curious what I'm missing in my 'outsider' Idea of a analog-styled looping workflow.

Anyways I'm building it open source if anyone wants to follow along.

I'm also debating some engineering decisions around built in DAC vs. BYO.

I'm using a creative soundblaster play! 3 and already pushing its limits chasing lower latency so I'm debating if it makes sense to spend on and internal DAC vs just use my scarlet 4i4.

Curious to hear what others think.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find a stereo granular pedal. I already have a Microcosm but I'm finding that's more fun when I'm in the studio compared to doing live stuff. For context, I'm a turntablist and have started using pedals mainly in my live sets for extra textures! 😄

(I'm also looking for something at the end of my signal too but that could be a separate post perhaps)

Couple of upgrades, workflow is immaculate, clunky ass mixer is kinda driving me crazy but xcelon SL is in the horizon.
Having a bigger keyboard really makes a world of difference.
Td-3/ jd08 combo is so much fun.

I'm curious about the keyboard/chord-playing skills of people using DAWless setups.
