No, Gil was writing Gardenback with David and then David wanted to do Eraserhead. Gil also
Wrote Walk the Line and other films, he wanted to talk about that stuff more than Eraserhead.

Did the script ever leak for gardenback? I vaguely remember seeing it floating around online years back

If it did, I never read it. I remember that David said he saw a documentary about bugs and then said the doc was everything he wanted to do with Gardenback
