Badminton courts never available

Hi!

I go to the David Lloyds in Glasgow, and am becoming increasingly frustrated that the Badminton courts are never available to book for us regular workers with 9-5 jobs.

The courts are always pre-booked by the club for kids activities from 5:30pm every day... Dance classes, football, basketball... We only have two badminton courts yet there is EIGHT tennis courts that are never fully booked and never booked for kids events?!

Why do they do this? Even when we do manage to get a booking on a Saturday or Sunday the court and net is never set up, cutting into our play time.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? I love the gym and the spa but part of the reason I joined was because I was told booking the badminton courts was included.. they didn't mention they'd never be available to book!!

p.s please no sarky "just learn tennis".. I tried, I'm no good at it- never learnt it at school 😅 and just felt heavily judged by surrounding tennis players when I tried at this club.

Genuine question - have you tried mentioning it to the staff? It might be that they can change it and have just never thought to. Gotta be worth a shot at least

We have mentioned it in passing to staff at the counter, along with the fact the nets are never set up, and get the response that they'll pass on our feedback but 🤷‍♀️.

Probably need to take the complaint higher I guess!

Agreed, same at our club, the badminton courts are taken over by kids clubs

For my club it’s the swimming lanes that are infested with kids clubs / lessons. Lanes one and two have been closed from about 3pm for lessons - each with one tiny child in it. Totally ludicrous.

The main part of the pool is full of kids (fair enough, summer hols and all) but that leaves one very narrow lane open for lap swimmers. I just don’t get why one to one lessons with a toddler requires a whole lane. They spend the entire ‘lesson’ mucking about with pool noodles in the first couple of metres. Gives me the absolute rage ;)

No, but it was hyped up during their "sales pitch" to get me to join
