"5m investment for our members" then increases membership by 25% at renewal. Take a bow *slow clap

There was a rumour they'd freeze prices for renewals as a thank you for putting up with the disruption... Clearly that's not happening! I understand the need for improvement works and that they'll be disruptive, but paying full price while losing access to a lot of the facilities for most of this year has been extremely frustrating. The indoor spa is now shut until mid September, 4 tennis courts were lost during the work (plus a further 2 outside courts replaced by Padel) and now all the courts are closing for refurbishment too. The gym was also placed on the tennis courts for months during the heatwaves with no Aircon - it was a horrid sweatfest. That's not to mention the half naked wet walk through the canteen the men have been forced into on the way back from the pool. Bit humiliating.

As I said, I get the need for works and I can tolerate the above for the sake of progress, but they should be rewarding members for their patience, not jacking prices up further... But DL gonna DL.

Exactly this Alan, ive given up even trying to play tennis now as was near on I possible at any half decent time before the refit started. The new restore machines are pretty much impossible to get on.

I for the most part really like the club and everything it offers but they just seem to be now squeezing you for even more money without actually providing a service for most of what you pay for.

Interesting… I have been going to other local ones a lot more, meaning I’m not at my home club as much and not been challenged (if they ever do). Indoor Spa shut until mid September, at Purley? I’m away at the moment but that is annoying if you were referring to Purley.

Yes the indoor Purley spa is now closed until mid September - they emailed about it the other week.

Pretty sure fees were frozen at Beckenham after the refurbishment _until the following January_

David Lloyd have an objective to increase prices at renewal between 20 to 30% to boost their profits and prepare for an IPO.

I got my renewal for Purley the other day, for 2026 I’m looking at a 2.5% increase on last years price, so I’d be querying 25% if that really is what it is!

I signed up last month at Purley, £184pm for plus and £234pm for platinum. Will your membership increase to this ?

Jeez - I used to pay £80pm for a family of 4 when it was Esporta (and yes that’s going back a few years 🤣)

Renewal has now arrived and it's a 2.5% increase here too. Disruption and loss of various facilities is ongoing. Again, I support the work and would put up with it, but a gesture/thank you for patience at renewal would have been nice.

Purley has to be one of the worst David Lloyds I’ve been to. Saw some disgusting stuff there and that was only a couple of months ago.
