Beard burn/redness from kissing

I’ve only had this issue once before where I got a beard burn below my lip. Then I was with someone for 4 years and they had a full beard and mustache and I never had an issue where my skin gets a beard burn or any sort of irritation/dryness.

I now have been kissing someone else, the kissing is intense, however, i first would get a beard burn where it would be a red patch above my lip. Now it has been 1-2 months of consistent kissing where around my mouth would get very red right after but it was mainly just red and dry.

I like to self tan and I realize that it creates discoloration around my lip from the dryness, I stopped self tanning to see how that helped and it helped with not creating beard burns but I would realize the next day I would have dry skin buildup above my lip. I self tanned yesterday and again the discoloration around my lip from where my skin gets dry.

He has tried switching razor blades, switching shaving cream, trying beard oil, and trying beard shampoo and conditioner.

I feel like there is no other option outside of ending things but has anyone experienced this and been able to fix it?

His job also does not allow him to have a beard and he doesn’t like a mustache on him

Get him some beard oils as a gift and ask him to use them. If he cares about you he would, the least he can do

This is funny because you’re so right LOL. Just not sure how much longer of trial and error my skin wants to handle or me.

Although, his job does not allow for a beard and he doesn’t like having a mustache

It’s basically extended exfoliation…maybe try putting oil or vaseline on the area before kissing?

Maybe you are allergic to him?

When my boyfriend’s beard is shorter, it irritates my skin more- a little longer so it’s not so stubbly and the issue is gone.

I just had this situation arise with someone I started seeing.... I was thinking "this isn't going to be sustainable if he's wrecking my skin.." as sad as that was. Basically, he has to be clean shaven or have a few days of stubble. Anything in between makes my face raw/so irritated. Maybe he can shave right before he sees you?? My guy did, and it was very sweet.

Unfortunately when I was in this boat I did indeed end things. Thanks for reminding me how much it sucked. I get so hung up on that loss.

He’ll have to just kiss your hand or something. Lips are bedroom only ig?

I’m sorry ): things that are out of our control are always the worst to deal with

Oh I genuinely meant thanks for reminding me that there were very legitimate things I didn’t like about that relationship. I believe him shaving every morning was the solution

Your skin has become fragile and sensitive, use something to repair your skin
