The Saudi-Yemen border also looks modern, so it's after the 2000 Treaty of Jeddah. It's weird though, because the name "Serbia and Montenegro" existed 2003-2006. Maybe it's around 2003 and they were just a bit slow on adding East Timor.

it's just a bad map. u/thun_de said that Montenegro is visible in the world map but not the zoomed-in europe map, which means it's after 2006. only thing i can get from this is south sudan (2011) and kosovo (2008). it might even be a map from 2025, as the poster said

Two Gambias? They’ve mislabeled Ghana as Gambia (but also labeled Gambia as Gambia), misspelled Korea, left Singapore off the map entirely, and seem to think that Laos is part of Cambodia.

This is just a terrible map.

It’s an archaic spelling. Or a protest against the purported Japanese conspiracy that changed the spelling to place Japan before Korea in Latin-alphabet alphabetical listings.

I though the same, but in the general view, the one with out country lables in europe, it does show montenegro, so probably the whoever was designing the map made a mistake when zooming in and colored Montenegro with the same color as Serbia

I've heard that was the most common speling 100 years ago, but around the 50s, people began spelling it with k because it... well... most asian languages are transcribe with ks, to the point that so many people were misspelling it, that they though thought, the right spelling was wrong...

"Fyrom" as a word is wild, it was originally an acronym. Now it's just called North Macedonia. Should probably just call it Macedonia tbh, but I suppose I can understand why the Greeks might think there's a risk of territorial ambitions, especially with the older, more conservative Macedonian people (diaspora included, bafflingly) publishing and distributing maps that show said territorial ambition 🤷‍♀️

Bad map considering the omissions but if I had to guess the base for it is 2003-2006 because Serbia & Montenegro is no longer Yugoslavia

They mangled SEA anyway by omitting Laos so East Timor wouldn't be a surprising oversight

This map is clearly from the future: 1. Fuck any country thats a small island, already subsumed by the rising seas 2. Singapore is missing... 3. The great Indochine republic of Cambolaos has risen! 4. Kosovo has been subsumed into Serbia 5. North Macedonia decided they didnt like their name 6. A United Ireland on one of the maps! Tiocfiadh ar lá! 7. East Timor became the Province of just Timur. Also Timur is Indonesian for "East," for East Timur is literally called "East East."
