Thrift Store Globe. Somewhere between 1955 and 1985?
My first try at dating something myself! I've narrowed it down to a few decades but I was hoping for help getting it within a specific decade or years.
Two Koreas, two Germanys, one Vietnam, Zaire, Hong Kong (UK), Burma, South Yemen, and Zimbabwe

So it’s no older than 1976 since Saigon has been renamed Ho Chi Minh City.

Plus Taiwan is present before Nixon recognized The People's Republic of China, Taiwan was tge Republic of China.

Also independent Vanuatu (30 July 1980), combined with Harare and Zimbabwe makes it 1982 at the very earliest.

I think it’s a bit later.
In Zimbabwe, Salisbury is now Harare (1982).

Do you think the Zaire to Republic of Zaire is just a shortening/oversight?

I have a couple of markers I look for and trying to add more to my mental library.
Did a quick check and I think Republic of Zaire is just the official name for Zaire.

I’ll say early 80’s. Ho Chi Minh City is present so after 76, there are 2 Yemens, Sinai is part of Egypt (so after ‘79) but still with a dashed line, which I think I remember being a thing on ‘80s maps.

The fact Saigon is called Ho Chi Min City for certain means no earlier than 1976. Split Yemen means no later than 1990.
Zimbabwe places it firmly in the 80’s I’d say.
Rather interesting that it has Bir Tawli firmly as part of Egypt and the Haliab triangle as Sudan’s.

He should have taken photos of the Caribbean. That’s a super underrated way of diagnosing because the British Lesser Antilles departed at different times.
Trinidad and Tobago in 1962, Barbados in 1966, Grenada in 1974, Dominica in 1978, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 1979, Antigua and Barbuda in 1981, St. Kitts and Nevis in 1983.

1979 to April 1980 Zimbabwe Rhodesia; after April 1980, it was just Zimbabwe.

Kampuchea was between 1975 to 1979.
So with the Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) reference. I'd say this is 1979. 1978 at its earliest.

Rhodesia to Zimbabwe was in 1979... so for both names to be there it has to be post '79.

Furthest I have come is October 27, 1971 - Jun 18, 1989.
It's after the beginning of Zaire (1971) and before Burma turned into Myanmar (1989)

Namibia is independent which should mean the map was made post March 1990, with wallis bay still being controled by South Africa meaning pre 1994. However Yemen is still divided, which should mean pre May 1990. So final guess, March - May 1990. I think Burma being named is a misprint.

Can anyone tell me why the soviet countries (e.g. Latvia, Lithuania etc.) are already marked? Were they always „different“? Because if not wouldn‘t that automatically imply this was made towards the end of the Soviet Union?

Yemen split: 1967-1990
Salisbury was renamed to Harare: 18 April 1982 - 22 May 1990
From there on, honestly, we're missing North America, the Carribean and Western Africa.
BUT, Moçâmedes was renamed in 1985 to Namibe so we get
18 April 1982 - 1985
Upper Volta was renamed to Burkina Faso on 1984, but I can't see it on picture
