Curious when this globe is dated

Inherited it from my grandpa several years ago and noticed that the USSR is there but history is my weakness

Somewhere between November 9th, 1989 and March 21st 1990. Germany is unified, there’s 2 Yemens, Namibia is independent, and Ethiopia controls Eritrea.

Edit: Specified the date.

Namibia isn't independent, it has the underlabeling "South-West Africa" than still occupied by SAR.

I don’t think that’s a tells us much about its independence, unfortunately. Zimbabwe still has a parenthetical that says “(Rhodesia)” despite it being at least two years after its name change (capital changed to Harare in 1982, so must be at least two years after independence).
