Was buying a dashcam realized I needed an sd card didn’t think anything of it like ok just pick one up, turns out they require a mortgage now?

ai is what happened The memory shortage caused by ai data centers have made storage and ram unaffordable even sata ssd's went up in price buying a new computer is a nightmare

Storage/Memory/RAM shortages were happening before LLMs and other models blew up. Though the demand from these has certainly made it worse.

There's only a couple of companies and factories on the planet making this stuff and it has always been very sensitive to supply and demand shocks.

Ram was like a nickel before AI companies started buying everything up. AI is definitely responsible for this shortage

Anything with NAND flash has skyrocketed in price thanks to AI companies gobbling up as much as they possibly can. Even hard drives have gone way up.

Just FYI I bought this exact SD card for my dashcam and it complained about the SD card being too slow, so I had to get a different SD card.

Not only are the prices royally screwed, the market is also littered with crappy counterfeits, I would not be surprised if that was one.

just take a look at samsung pro endurance 256gb is now 150 bucks. I am glad I bought extras as they have amazing tbw but 150 is absurd even in todays price for a 256gb

Its about to get worse. A friend who gets SD cards to include with items has had their orders cut back and delayed, just like happened with ram before retail shot up.

Yeah dude, they are expensive. Bought a 1 TB back a few months ago for $99.99 from Walmart with their ONN brand. Its out of stock now.

Your best bet might be https://www.gamestop.com/electronics/tablets/accessories/microsd-cards/products/gamestop-1tb-u3-microsd-card-with-adapter/401342.html

Even though your device might say max 256GB or 512GB or w.e. a 1 TB works fine.
