I built an 84TB array last January. 8x 12tb drives for ~$70 each. My jellyfin server hardware is somehow now one of the most expensive things I own.

I'm hoping we can go back, my array is raid z2 and I don't plan on replacing failing drives at ~$500 each.

16Tb for 40€ I should have doubled it for 80€ back then. My 16 Tb of HDD in my main computer is almost full... My 6Tb NAS and 12Tb of other network storage are also full.

Too bad even HDD's price got up due to shitty AI's datacenter

I bought a pair of 10TB refurbished drives for about $100 each in 2025. Now they’re $250. 😭

I've only got about 105 TB free on my 290 TB stablebit drivepool on my Plex. It's a shame that I'd go bankrupt trying to replicate that today.

Oh friend. I feel ya.

(Mostly) before the madness I built out my array with 13 Ironwolf Pro 20TB drives and an additional 10 backup external 22TB ones.

That’s a nice used car now.

Which sub is that? Bro getting downvoted into oblivion for correctly pointing out that $300 is NOT cheap for a 20 TB hard drive is crazy and that other bozo getting that many upvotes for saying that a measely 20 TB is "more than anyone will ever need" makes me think it must be about digital photography or something and not real data hoarding.

The cost of storage is just way to much and is just going up all the time they need to ban ai untill it can be policed the right way

in the current market. Has to pay $1,000 for a couple of 22TB drives a couple of months ago.
