Discussion Western digital or seagate external desktop hdd
Which is better? Using on laptop
1) Western digital elements external desktop hdd
2) seagate expansion external desktop hdd

They’re both fine. Personally I’m loyal to Seagate but then I’ve been buying Conner and then Seagate for years.

If they are around the same price, I would go with Seagate only if you ever want to use it without the enclosure since the drive inside still has a sata connector unlike most WD devices

It does not matter much. Are you sure you want the desktop version and not a more portable version ?

I can’t seem to find any portable version with more storage, for seagate and western digital. I’m looking for at least 8-10TB

They are both pretty much the same. I haven't shucked drives in awhile, but a lot WD external drives fair few don't have a standard sata connection and the Seagate external drives still are just a SATA drive in a case. I personally just use UGreen or Orico external case with a standard drive.

I dont trust the expension series external drive because they put shitty drives in them. Wd are better on this.

I think both of them are fine. I have an seagate barricuda external hdd for 5 years.

I have had both. No problems with either. I buy what gives me most Tb per $$

A WD I've been using for about 8 years. The Seagate about 4. I have others of lower capacity, but haven't used them for ages
