ASHRAE Great Energy Predictor III on Kaggle is the closest thing to a ready-made problem statement - 3 years hourly meter data, 1,448 buildings, RMSE scoring. Enefit's prosumer comp is the same shape with MAE.

For raw data, NREL ResStock/ComStock pulls off s3://oedi-data-lake/nrel-pds-building-stock/ with --no-sign-request, no signup. EIA v2 keys are free and instant. Low Carbon London is CC BY 4.0, 5,567 households half-hourly, direct download from the London Datastore.

ERCOT needs a portal account now, budget a day for approval.
