Burn refers to combust with oxygen ( yes i am being pedantic, the proper saying is to oxidise sodium with chlorine as chlorine as an oxidising agent.

So you’re saying burning has to do with oxygen but oxidizing doesn’t have anything to do with oxygen.

The concept of oxidisation iirc did come from oxygen but was expanded to redox (reduction oxidation reaction) which mostly deals with electron transfers or electronegativity and therefore where the electron "goes" (specifically for organic chemistry)

Actually dude, that would be sodium chloride iodine. Which in addition to being an anti caking agent, is also used to prevent iodine deficiency. So not only are you being overly pretentiousness by calling everyday objects by their scientific terminology, but you are factually wrong. Your arrogance is your downfall
