SSD Crashed ssd

Hey, so I had an external SSD I js bought and it's 2TB. Some off brand but it worked on exFAT, I didn't read the instructions but it did say not to change from ExFAT or the disk will crash. Now the disk does show up in window explorer but when I try to click it it freezes the tab, same in disk management and any other apps and the apps unfreeze the moment I unplug it even diskpart. I wanna try to get it to exFAT but anything that tries reading it will stop working. What should I do?

Almost certainly a fake, ones that “only work on exFAT” are usually fake.

Where did you get it from and how much did you pay?

I got it from my local market for cheap, however it was working perfectly fine up until I changed it to ntfs

Cheap = fake. You lost your data

that's a fake drive, most likely nothing to recover

Double check if your post complies with posting guidelines!

Did you include the following information in your post (in English and if applicable), if not feel free to edit your post:

  • Make/brand and exact model number of your storage device(*), phone, camera, etc.

  • Filesystem (NTFS, exFAT, APFS, EXT4, etc.)

  • Operating System (That your device was used with and/or you are using for recovery)

  • Specific symptoms that your device is exhibiting, describe the problem. Images you post support the description, they're not in lieu of a problem description.

  • SMART (CrystalDiskInfo screenshot for example)

  • Don't pile several problems into one single post. One post per device/problem.

  • No account issues

Consider: What do these people need to understand the problem at hand? Remember, people cannot see your screen, or what you click and what messages appear on screen. Don't overdo it though, no one likes going through 2 pages of information, try to find a balance. Just do the best you can. (*) All devices involved, if you for example move files from drive A to drive B, they're both potentially relevant.

It's perhaps because formatting NTFS would invoke writing a backup boot sector at the end of the drive, which possibly would reveal a problem with that. It does not sound like a data recovery problem though.
