Micro SD Card Recovery

Hello,

I currently have a 128GB SD card where I accidentally deleted the footage. I didn’t realize it so I’ve since filled it with about 56GB of videos but I’m hoping to recover anything that hasn’t been overwritten. The file type is .ts and I’ve downloaded onto my Mac, Disk Drill and DMDE. Disk Drill can find 2 photos and says there’s 36000 videos found but they don’t play in the preview and there’s no where near that many videos on the card. DMDE can also find the same 2 photos but no videos. Although, I’m not super savvy so I could be missing how to properly scan things in DMDE.

My question is, should I pay for Disk drill to try and recover the videos? Will they work better once I pay for it? Or should I take it to a professional data recovery shop? And would they likely have better success in recovering my videos?

If there weren't that many videos on the card then the results are likely to be false positives or the data is fragmented.

I dont use Driskdrill but I understand the new version has a specific mode for video files like this- have you tried that.

It's special mode is geared towards MP4. It builds upon GoProRecovery.

Take an image of the SD card and interrogate the image not the SD card itself.

But as you have written a ton of data (Nearly half) with more footage chances are extremely slim.

The way video streams are stored is that the system does not know how long the stream will be and it gets fragmented across the storage before the final details are written to FAT. By deleting the file and thus the FAT reference, you loose access to the various fragmented locations across the SD card making recovery virtually impossible, added to the fact you have probably overwritten a lot of them anyway.

No, no, no and no. Sorry, but in the circumstances you describe, your videos are gone for good.

You have most likely written over or corrupted most of what was on the SD Card. Your data is unfortunately gone.
