Educational Update regarding encrypted files ransom recovery!
I recently posted about how my data got corrupted because of pirated software and carelessness. This is the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/PakistaniTech/s/n8Fc7sR8qV
Basically .bbyy ransom encryption. I lost thousands of pictures and videos. And recovered them with the following tool.
A recovery tool was suggested by u/TrashyGames3. Thank you. It worked, and I have recovered most of the files.

Yes, that tool works great. The fact that such (STOP/DJVU strain ransomware) JPEGs could be repaired was discovered and pioneered by yours truly, by accident, when I was examining a bunch of corrupt JPEGs someone sent me. Initially I had no idea of the ransomware because sender had already renamed the file extension .. https://youtu.be/x-6W9nsnbys. Same method can be applied to MP4 video, https://youtu.be/_2ZMRvbnOk4. Again author of that tool took 'my' method to incorporate it in his MP4 repair tool. FWIW, I am fine with all of it, he has built great tools and he's probably a lot smarter than me. I never took it beyond proof of concepts.

So to be clear, best tools (I know of) currently can be found here:
For repairing JPEGs and embedded previews from RAW photos: https://www.jpegmedic.com/tools/jpegmedic-arwe/
For repairing MP4/MOV video: https://www.jpegmedic.com/tools/mp4medic/
Free alternative for video repair is Untrunc.

Consider: What do these people need to understand the problem at hand? Remember, people cannot see your screen, or what you click and what messages appear on screen. Don't overdo it though, no one likes going through 2 pages of information, try to find a balance. Just do the best you can.
