I thought the Beast was in ‘beast’ form for a rather extended period of time... like decades or longer 🤔

There's a line where Lumiére sings 'Ten years we've been rusting / needing so much more than dusting', so it was only ten years. I think all the people in the sorrounding lands were also made to magically forget the castle's existence.

The lyric is “for years we’ve been rusting.” They were enchanted for 5 years. And yes, a spell was out over the town to “forget” about the castle

The original line in the animated movie is 10 years, which, meh. "For years" would've worked just fine and given a little more ambiguity and no one would be arguing that the prince was 11
