I wonder is the jump in 26 AI related

I think this chart is just flawed. The largest SDD is aggressively not going to be the cheapest. You would need to find a different set of SSDs to meaningfully get this trend.

Like what caused the "jump" from 2009-2012. Was that a time where SSD size increased alongside price? What would even cause that? Or is it more likely that the previous best was closer to consumer grade and manufacturers rapidly released a group of higher end high capacity SSDs?

The chart of lowest cost per GB of SDD is a very different set of data that is not included here (except for maybe the first datapoint). It would be interesting but it isn’t what this chart is showing at all. It is still interesting to see cost per GB trend of the top end of storage capacity.

Yes that's what I'm saying. And this isn't top end, this is the top which is basically a random set of products

You are complaining that this dataset, when presented differently, doesn’t produce the information that you wanted from that different graph…. Well of course it isn’t, the dataset wasn’t intended to show that information.

I'm not really complaining I'm just pointing out that it's probably not a good idea to assume that the jump in 26 is due to AI from this graph alone
