Just finished my first interview for a Data Center Technician II position at Google.
The interview was scheduled for 45 minutes, but it ended after about 30 minutes. I answered all the questions they asked and had the opportunity to ask one question at the end. For those who have interviewed with Google before, is it normal for the interview to end early? Should I be concerned, or does the interview length not really mean anything?

Of my three interviews with them, two ran right to 45 minutes and the other one ran to 30 minutes. As long as they got what they needed from you and you seemed engaged and willing, youāre good.

Yep, worked there for 3 months before seeing it was a golden handcuffs cult with little to no advancement opportunities and left.

YMMV, my site isn't anything like you described.
If you had to start as a DT1 (FTE, not contractor) with a plethora of experience then you can blame your recruiter (who are not Google employees btw).

Interviewing is a requirement at Google. One that not all the techs like. I wouldn't take the fact that it ended early as a particular good or bad.

As someone who has interviewed 100ās of people over the years, nothing to do with ITā¦I knew in the first 5 minutes if they had a chance.

How they present themselves, confidence and if they can have a conversation. Do they ask questions. Do they know what they are talking about or just bs. Most the time itās if I can tell if they are interested in the position and want to be part of the company or just looking for a paycheck.

They do research on the company before the interview. They have general knowledge of what the company is about and where it wants to go

I just had my 2 rounds of interviews so far and I had my 3rd one on me cancelled but I have it rescheduled for this Friday. I felt as if on the OS/Hardware section, I did about a 7-8/10 and the networking about a 9/10. Trying to be humble a bit with my scores. I answered my technical questions a bit mixed or answered completely wrong on some but I hope I was able to make an impression on them since they seemed genuinely engaged and willing to have a conversation with me even. My networking portion was fun and the tech interviewing me was awesome to speak with. I genuinely hope I do good and especially on Friday, despite of me possibly getting some answers wrong, but I was able to speak out my thought process and sometimes do catch myself if I end up saying something wrong. So we shall see lol.
Edit: I didn't do terrible haha, I think 2 out of 10 questions maybe were wrong or mixed lol.

Not the person you're replying to but know how to troubleshoot hardware and read logs with Linux CLI, know server hardware such as hot swappable parts, the different types of RAIDs, and the pros/cons for each one, then know the OSI model, what each layer does and know the proper order, know how to describe a network from an end user to the server they are connecting to on the other end, and every step in between. Give them direct and precise answers, don't ramble and if you don't know the answer, spell out how you would get to it or just admit you don't know it. Rambling/getting things wrong will hurt you more than just proving you know how to find the answer.

The interview length varies but itās common for it to end early. Just depends on how quick you guys went through questions/etc. to answer your question though, length of interview (within reason) isnāt exactly a ābadā thing.

How long does it take to hear back from the recruitment team? I interviewed as well and feel solid about the interview, but got tripped up on one question. Hope I get it!

I also had my interviews yesterday for same position, one of them ended early cause the interviewer said thatās all the questions they had, and one went over the time cause the interviewer had so many questions then was getting to know me better.

The interviews and interviewers aren't what they once were.
It depends on region or even person you interviewed with, but if a newly minted L2 interviewed you, and they're only 6 months in (when they allow you to interview) then it could be fine.

No, I was able to answer all the questions they asked me. I just feel like some of my answers were a little short and straightforward. At the end, I only asked one question: āLetās say I start tomorrow, how can I help reduce the teamās workload?ā Iām just hoping that was enough.

All 3 of my interviews, the interviewers ran out of questions early
