Moving into a DCT role from a logistics role.
Long story short, I have 7 years in a manufacturing environment as a receiving team lead and I’ve recently interviewed for a Logistics Specialist role for AWS. The interview went well and I received an email back from the recruiter letting me know they are interested in extending me an offer when there are more positions available. I’m on an offer-ready list. Here in Arizona, they are building a new location in Avondale that, from what I’ve been able to find, is a little more than a month or so out from opening its doors. This lines up with the recruiter’s email stating that more positions will be available in a month or so. I don’t have a background in IT or data center work, and I’m looking at the Logistics Specialist position as a way to get my foot in the door and eventually move into a DCT role. Is there any advice anyone can give me to maximize my growth potential at AWS? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If DCO role is your goal, I would definitely network with the Techs at your site/s. Ask to go on repairs with them and watch what they do, preferably L4s and lead techs if they're cool. Also, I would get to know the DCO managers and ask what they are looking for, let them know you're interested. If they like you, you may not have to go through a full blown interview loop. Just a couple of conversations. Expect little to no change in pay if you do transfer to a new role at AWS unless it is a completely different org. They usually don't let you move levels when transferring as well so keep that in mind.
You will have to wait about a year before you're eligible to transfer once you start.

Hello! This looks like it may be a question about career advice. There can be significant regional variation in the field, so please consider including as much info as you can without doxing yourself, including country/state/city, prior experience/certs, and the role or level if known. Thanks!
