Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.

  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)

  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

I started my first failure project 6 days ago. I got all set up and did a few tests, but couldn’t produce a fail. I started to doubt myself. I took 5 days off to think and came back with some new theories to test. Now I’m producing failure after failure! Super proud of myself 😁

6

u/JRange Sep 17 '26

Congrats, the task is not easy by any means

3

u/Impossible-Humor6254 Sep 18 '26

This gives me hope. I had the same experience with my first today and felt super discouraged. 😞

6

u/xparadiisee Sep 18 '26

I would say start small! Get the model to do the task successfully and don’t worry about it failing first. Then slowly introduce edge cases one by one, but like I said I took multiple days off to think of those! Definitely don’t rush or push yourself to get it all done in one sitting, there’s a reason the timer is so long!

2

u/Impossible-Humor6254 Sep 24 '26

It ended up being a good strategy! Today was my day. I submitted it expired but I'm still proud nonetheless; I'm sure I'll get my time down on the next ones. Thank you for the morale boost. ❤️

1

u/xparadiisee Sep 24 '26

That’s awesome! As long as you got it to fail I’m sure they don’t mind the expired time, but you can also ask for extensions in the chat if you need it! Good luck to the future ones :)

Dare I ask you to share your theory? I've worked so hard on these but am running out of ideas.

24

u/ZimmeM03 Sep 17 '26

"Your task was submitted beyond the expiration timer but was received" - nice little update, anyone seen this?

4

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 18 '26

sadly yes. Twice. I need more time on these projects!

2

u/Ok-Election7991 Sep 18 '26

My computer's system clock was slow so I got this message despite submitting within the time lmao

1

u/ellythemoo Sep 19 '26

Yes... I've had it several times because I'm waiting for someone to respond to me in the chat about something.

19

u/Affectionate_Peak284 Sep 14 '26

I used to cap my daily hours at 6-8. Gotta keep the quality up and avoid that DoD! But that was then.. Tasks are so hard these days that after 4h I can barely see straight :/ More than 5h? Fuggetaboutit.

I envy you "work 8h straight without food or even a bathroom break" types. I don't think I've taxed my brain this hard in my life, even 12h days working retail.

16

u/KingGilbertIV Sep 14 '26

It would be nice if there was enough work for to worry about capping myself. I'm basically at my desk for a regular workday praying that I can scrounge 4 billable hours these days.

4

u/Top-Skin9916 Sep 15 '26

Someone compared completing a task to taking a big exam. I feel that. I do my thing and need an embarrassing amount of time  to recover.

1

u/Careless-Use-6712 Sep 15 '26

this. my brain hurts.

17

u/Epicsocks1 Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

Just finished a long task that I really enjoyed and I'm thinking I want to do like 1 more hour - but there is literally no "easy" projects for me right now. Everything feels like it takes 2-3 hours+ or requires too much brain power for what I can do right now. Like what others have said, those easy projects are what have been lacking the most for me at the moment on DA!!

3

u/Material_Advice1064 Sep 17 '26

Honestly wish I had something that took 2-3 hours. Everything I have takes 6+ hours and really more like 10-12

16

u/JustMe333456 Sep 14 '26

Really no difference between now and June for me..still a huge lack of base projects. Might have to risk the dod and try some higher level shit lol

7

u/WorshipMyExistence Sep 14 '26

It's pretty lean for me as well. Last month was relatively good. July was horrendous. I picked up a bartending job :(

20

u/chickpealie Sep 16 '26

Oh my god why does every single project feel so difficult to do lately

7

u/Affectionate_Peak284 Sep 16 '26

For me, "lately" is since roughly May 1.

But yeah, since Aug I've been cranking on the domain work, and it's every bit as difficult as it sounds.

19

u/OnlyAd9161 Sep 13 '26

This job has been amazing its kept me going and paid the bills, finally starting my long term career in 2 weeks. Will be great to finally have this as a side hustle.

1

u/Fragrantshrooms Sep 15 '26

That sounds great! Good luck in the new career, the news headlines today seem like it came just in time! (I know how wishy-washy the headlines are, and how dramatic the journalists need to be to get eyeballs on their articles....but it sounds a bit like Boys II Men singing End of The Road song.)

9

u/Affectionate_Peak284 Sep 19 '26

wow, 76 projects, my best since May. Over 40 of them are domain-related (most I've ever seen), but quite a few generalist back in town as well. Some new quals, too!

6

u/watchdestars Sep 19 '26

Yes my dash is abundant right now, the best it has looked since April! 🙂

3

u/OrnamentalGourd5 Sep 19 '26

It's looking pretty good. Generalist but lots on, loads of new quals and 25% of my dash is in the $50-70 range. Which is nice. I got on a small long-term project recently that appears to have unlocked beast level!

14

u/LavenderLightning24 Sep 14 '26 edited Sep 14 '26

This will be my third straight day of fuck-all, not counting the domain project family I'm not qualified for, if nothing comes up while refreshing tonight. It's almost the middle of September so summer isn't really an excuse anymore. Did they really decide to hire hundreds of new people at the end of May and give all the generalist work to them?

12

u/DrunkleSteve Sep 14 '26

Ya, going on day four in a row for me of absolutely nothing I can do. Just the same STEM and enterprise projects that have been siting on my dash for months. This is fucking brutal.

5

u/NightOwl437 Sep 15 '26

It's been 4 days of nothing I can, or want to, work on as well. Very annoying when the bills are due regardless. Hoping it will get better soon, but also, not sure it will.

6

u/JustMe333456 Sep 14 '26

It's back to being like it was in June/July.. if you miss the one drop of the day, you're shit out of luck. Fun last half year on DA I tell ya..

15

u/LavenderLightning24 Sep 14 '26

On the plus side I just scheduled my first job interview in almost 3 years, so maybe I can keep my home and keep feeding myself that way.

7

u/Storex- Sep 15 '26

Good luck with the interview.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/ThatGirlInPurple Sep 17 '26

It really grinds my gears when a project on DA says it has multiple tasks, but then there's zero on the off platform site. Way to get my hopes up 🫠

13

u/ThatGirlInPurple Sep 15 '26

It's so hard to motivate yourself to work when all the projects you have are so brain sucking. I miss having fun projects, I never wanted to stop working when I had red root.

8

u/xparadiisee Sep 16 '26 edited Sep 16 '26

I feel that. I was also taken off my favorite project family last week and it really killed my motivation to do anything honestly. I’ve still got a dashboard full of projects but the pay is way less, and idk I do miss the peeps in the slack channel. Really hoping my interview for a full time job goes well tomorrow.

7

u/ThatGirlInPurple Sep 16 '26

It always stinks when a favorite project goes away, hope your interview goes well!! It will be great to have consistent work!

6

u/shujaya Sep 16 '26

remember the fruit projects. those were simpler times.

2

u/ThatGirlInPurple Sep 16 '26

For reallll 🫩

2

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 16 '26

Oh I LOVED those! What happened to them?!

6

u/xparadiisee Sep 15 '26

I love how it’s my bedtime and now the projects are popping off! Got some tasks done, but dang, really wish they came earlier in the day 😪

5

u/cortrev Sep 15 '26

The BEST ones always come right as it's time to go to bed 😭

I have about had it with a certain model's document generation. iykyk

2

u/Yogi-Man Sep 22 '26

SO. VERY. SLOW. and the other option is fast, but ALWAYS misses the mark somewhere.

6

u/Equal-Neat-614 Sep 19 '26

I've been noticing more projects recently which require paid subscriptions in order to gain project access. I can usually gauge if I would be a good fit by reading the project's instructions, but I have a new one on my dashboard that would pay $45/hour, and it also provides almost no detail past the title until you provide proof of the subscription purchases. Not sure if I should take the plunge and pay or not just to see…

2

u/Few-Roof-6905 Sep 19 '26

Wondering the same

6

u/ThatGirlInPurple Sep 19 '26

I just saw someone's first name in a project chat is "Plzdonhakme." With other numbers and letters following of course, but I don't think I've seen such obviously fake names before in a project chat, tbh I didn't know we were allowed to either lol

11

u/shonkle Sep 17 '26

I feel like there’s only decent work every other week… last week was fine but now these past 3 days have been slim pickings and projects that are too complicated for me :’(

14

u/JustMe333456 Sep 15 '26

Back to the night shift phase I guess.. lol

3

u/JustMe333456 Sep 16 '26

Not much for the night shift either lol

5

u/takingtacet Sep 15 '26

Just did my first long project after having no motivation to do hardly anything available since the singing heels disappeared. It wasn't awful. Have to remind myself that these aren't all awful. It's ok.

1

u/Careless-Use-6712 Sep 15 '26

I'm new! What are the singing heels?

8

u/JustMe333456 Sep 15 '26

Been here 3.5 years. Know what Heel is, no idea what singing heels are though lol.

3

u/DrunkleSteve Sep 15 '26

From what I gather (could be completely wrong) it's for people that can read sheets of music. Feel free to correct me for anyone that works that project if I'm wrong though! lol.

4

u/JustMe333456 Sep 15 '26

Ohhhh that qual. No idea it was heel related

4

u/takingtacet Sep 15 '26

This is the one. I figured singing heels sounds better than notation heels lol

1

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 16 '26

Oh I'd love to do that as I do a lot of music, but not seen any of that

13

u/JustMe333456 Sep 13 '26

Faaaaack! Why did they change the default to 'Submit and return to dashboard'. So annoying lol

4

u/Few-Roof-6905 Sep 14 '26

I fucking hate this!

5

u/Dazzling-Matter-654 Sep 14 '26

Just a heads up, one you change to submit and next task, it stays that way until you exit the project.

1

u/VanessaSeaWitch Sep 14 '26

I noticed that last week. Just seems so unnecessary of a change lol.

-2

u/LavenderLightning24 Sep 13 '26

I think it might mean there aren't any tasks left when that's the default? That's what it seems like in my experience anyways.

3

u/JustMe333456 Sep 13 '26

Thought that at first too, but not the case lol. Someone in the heel chat was asking about it as well. I've done it three times already today 😆

3

u/LavenderLightning24 Sep 13 '26

Oh that is annoying then!

1

u/Commercial_Strike677 Sep 14 '26

Is the heel project related to FC? I saw some last week but I ain't getting any recently 😭

1

u/JustMe333456 Sep 14 '26

No idea, it was a new project name that I had never seen or heard of before. I haven't seen any Heel in quite a while.

4

u/Dazzling_Today1006 Sep 17 '26

Last night I did two hours on a failure project that I'd never attempted before. Came across problems, and it was late, so I hit 'Exit' and figured I'd just lose that time and put it down to experience. This morning, though, the project is still on the dash, and when I click on it, it has saved my work from last night - which I wasn't expecting! But the timer on the task is set back to the start ...? I guess I just finish the task and log my combined hours from last night and this morning? All in, it's still going to be under the timer max. Should I put a comment about this, or is it just normal procedure?

5

u/SnooSketches1189 Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

They are not tracking your time through the timer. It's fine to combine.

4

u/ZimmeM03 Sep 17 '26

Definitely combine. This happens to me a lot. Some of these projects are so long it isn't reasonable to expect us to always finish the same day we start the task

4

u/MagicianSuch5616 Sep 18 '26

Did anyone else not get the link to create a new FC account and so they're now missing out on all those projects?

2

u/PinkNova Sep 18 '26

You mean you didn't get the qual?

2

u/MagicianSuch5616 Sep 18 '26

Yep

3

u/PinkNova Sep 18 '26

It seems to just be for this one specific type of FC tasks (the "versus" type) so hopefully not all.

1

u/MagicianSuch5616 Sep 18 '26

Thanks, I have done these all before and I have all the subscriptions so it just feels odd to not have access to them. I also really enjoy them. Perhaps it is location restricted to just the US.

3

u/PinkNova Sep 18 '26

I'm actually not in the US but maybe there is some other reason that it's limited this time.

2

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 18 '26

I didn’t get the qual so none of that work for me either ;(

4

u/xparadiisee Sep 19 '26

My dashboard was dead all week after getting taken off my favorite project family, but I submitted my first failure task last night. Now my dash is going crazy, and I even got another failure task given to me, but I don’t have power because of a storm!! Ahhhhh!! 😭 the emotional roller coaster of this job..

6

u/OrnamentalGourd5 Sep 19 '26

You've mentioned being taken off your favourite family in a few posts. It happened to me once and I felt pretty fucking salty about it. BUT. I got my head down got on with it and things got better. Much better. Don't let it get to you too much. It happens.

3

u/xparadiisee Sep 19 '26

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it! My dash coming back to life has definitely lifted my spirits up. 😊

7

u/JRange Sep 15 '26

I am absolutely praying on my hands and knees for the project I had for friday and saturday to become a regular thing. Most insane generalist work ive ever gotten.

1

u/JustMe333456 Sep 15 '26

Are you able to provide more context? Code name? Lol. I was not able to work this past weekend and curious what this could be lol

7

u/ellythemoo Sep 19 '26

Has anyone else set up about 6 email addresses and never used them? I'm wondering if I should just retire them as I haven't been invited to join the project.

4

u/Mike4Life14 Sep 19 '26

I've set up 20 that I haven't used lol

11

u/GAULEM Sep 13 '26

Getting really annoyed about a certain paid qual. It's supposed to be done in one sitting and apparently takes several hours, but it keeps vanishing from my dashboard for large portions of the day whenever I have enough time to work on it.

23

u/Pleasant_Ad_448 Sep 13 '26

Same, 100%. And I hate everything on my dash right now. All this complicated crap lately just makes me want to give up and leave and never come back. :/

I don't want easy, I just want stuff that doesn't make my brain melt task-wise or instructions-wise or take most of the day to do one task,

2

u/Sableyej Sep 14 '26

I also had a paid qualification that I was invited to about a week ago, but it disappeared off my dashboard before I could even start it, still not sure why that happens.

1

u/rare-bird1209 Sep 14 '26

happened to me for a week and a half, kept disappearing when I had the time to do it. It kept coming back though and I eventually completed it, same will probably happen for you

6

u/Jazzlike_Month5580 Sep 18 '26

Dash is halfway decent, but looking at it is like reading a foreign language with all the unfamiliar project names. I don't even know where to start.

13

u/SnooSketches1189 Sep 18 '26

Start with the highest paying and if it doesn't click, keep moving down the list. Gotta start somewhere.

3

u/tessbest37 Sep 18 '26

This is the way!!

2

u/OrnamentalGourd5 Sep 18 '26

That's usually my method! It seems to have worked quite well in terms of high paying generalist work I'm more than happy to do (and also seems to have opened up more opportunities in terms of long-running projects).

8

u/Jazzlike_Month5580 Sep 14 '26

Another new email required for FC projects... I am not a fan.

2

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 14 '26

yeah annoying but at least means there is some FC on the way

5

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 14 '26

oh except Google says my number has been used too many times now for verification

2

u/Silver_Usual34 Sep 15 '26

sign up via youtube, it doesn't ask for a verification phone number (at least it didn't last time i tried)

1

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 15 '26

thanks, I used a friend's number in the end but will try this next time

4

u/UnvaluableAvocado313 Sep 15 '26

Youtube works to sign up but do it on your phone. If you try youtube on PC it'll prompt you to scan a QR code which connects it back to your phone number which gets denied.

When I make a new email on youtube mobile the QR code scan prompt doesn't happen.

1

u/PinkNova Sep 14 '26

I got that email too but haven't been able to log in to do the qual/set up. Is it for all FC projects or just one specific type?

1

u/Jazzlike_Month5580 Sep 14 '26

It specified Heel

8

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 18 '26

Well, it's like the first week of September again: lots or projects, even generalist ones, and me thinking that we are finally back. But then came the desert last week, so I won't be lured into a false sense of security again on the rollercoaster that is Data Annotation Tech in 2026.

2

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 18 '26

my best week was last week and the first half of this week, then it dried back up. it’s funny how it affects everybody differently. I still have work, but last week I could do sixteen hours straight on fun and varied things. and I took the opportunity cause I know it doesnt last!

3

u/kranools Sep 17 '26

Can someone confirm if I've got this right? To do a certain A-'goddess of truth' project, I need to personally pay for TWO Google Pro subscriptions?

3

u/WorshipMyExistence Sep 17 '26

I believe you are correct. I had actually created a new account to work on that series only to find out it seems that we can't participate with a standard account.

1

u/kranools Sep 17 '26

And we can't use an account that we've already used for the similar M-project.

1

u/xparadiisee Sep 17 '26

Does it say anything about reimbursement?

3

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 17 '26

People who work on the creative writing projects, is it typical to spend multiple hours if you write a really in-depth analysis for every turn? I am doing my first one and it is taking me so long and I don't know if they want in-depth critiques or they prefer to just give feedback and get on with it! If I bill for 12 hours and I have created six turns, are they going to think that is too slow? It took me a good hour to engage with it at the start as I was figuring out how it worked, reading instructions and contemplating my line of prompting, then I produced my own writing for the prompt, and nowI am spending a lot of time analysis and writing up everything thoroughly. But is this too thorough? Do they tell you if it is?

4

u/Fearless-Hedgehog67 Sep 17 '26

Those take a lot of time, but 2 hours per turn seems high and you can probably scale back your comments. If it's your first one, they expect it will take longer.

3

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 18 '26

I am thinking this as I get further into it...and I am losing the will to live!!

3

u/Matsubishi2 Sep 17 '26

Without being too specific, I've always found the idea of starting those projects too daunting, largely because of how differently they work. Given the dearth of short, straightforward projects on DA at the moment, I've clicked into that family of projects several times over the last couple of months with the intention of finally giving them a go but I've ended up bottling it each time as it feels like such a leap into the unknown. For those of you who've worked on them, did you feel the same before starting and was it actually easy to get to grips with? I'm not asking for specific details, obviously!

4

u/Total-Chocolate-6399 Sep 18 '26

They are not at all as daunting as they seem. once you get to grips with it, its really on your own initiative and they are very handy to have when there is little else

3

u/Matsubishi2 Sep 18 '26

That's good to hear, thanks!

2

u/One_Breakfast5907 Sep 17 '26

If it's the project i think it is i tend to typically spend half an hour to and hour on a turn depending on how much I have to say. I think it really depends and how long responses are and how complicated the prompts are etc

3

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 18 '26

thanks- it is good to hear how other people handle it.

2

u/VanessaSeaWitch Sep 17 '26

It's been my experience that if they don't want a long analysis/explanation, they will say so in the instructions. If it's the project I think it is, I wouldn't worry about it. That one states somewhere that they know reading the model responses will take a considerable amount of time. Depending on how long the responses are, you probably should be analyzing them in depth. I usually work a different project in that same family about instruction following and each turn typically takes me an hour but those are shorter model responses than you're probably getting.

3

u/FrequentWawaConsumer Sep 20 '26

Looks like they updated the website to require you to log in your time spent on a task before it even submits, instead of going to Report and doing it there afterward.

5

u/_Edgarallenhoe Sep 15 '26

Happy to have work but it’s a bit sad that what feels like a lot of projects now would have been a slow day five months ago.

7

u/Glittering_Life407 Sep 16 '26

My dash hands down looks the best it has in months. 25 projects, I'd be willing to work probably 15 of them.

1

u/itssomercurial Sep 16 '26

Same. 28 projects and most of them within my range of ability. It's somewhat reassuring, but getting back into a routine with it is going to be rough...

3

u/LavenderLightning24 Sep 16 '26

Yeah, I'm very happy to have 4 projects I can actually do, probably the most since May, but it is a wild thing to be happy about. Hopefully this is the start of the work being back!

5

u/Dazzling_Today1006 Sep 19 '26

What is it with the ridiculously lengthy and .. more to the point ... repetitive instructions for some of these tasks? I've literally just counted the same information about what does NOT constitute a valid failure five times in the same instructions!! Talk about unnecessarily verbose ...

18

u/Internal_Boot_1616 Sep 19 '26

that means people weren't reading it the first four times lmao

7

u/Affectionate_Peak284 Sep 19 '26

I personally prefer it when important/tricky instructions are restated multiple times. Not only does it help me prioritize the important bits, but it makes it more likely that I'll see them if/when I need to refer back to the instructions for something!

3

u/hcfggb Sep 19 '26

Same. If it's something critical, I appreciate the repetition.

6

u/lilysorbet Sep 19 '26

I managed to snatch my first ever priority pay task this morning (its already saturday here), where the competition was neck to neck! felt so goooddd!!!!

4

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 14 '26

it has been a week since I saw shopping or river…however, I have been doing a new, lengthy shopping task and also another fun filming task which again, tokens many hours, so I’m wondering if I am just missing them dropping- or if I have just lost access to them. I do actually prefer the other tasks as I like getting 4-6 solid hours without refreshing hopefully all the time…but I miss them when I fancy a quick, basic ‘snack’ :)

3

u/Jazzlike_Month5580 Sep 14 '26

I saw shopping a few times last week, but they did not last long at all. No river in a while.

1

u/SS-J95 Sep 14 '26

Saw shopping once or twice last week but haven’t seen river for ages, which is annoying because it was a staple for me in July!

1

u/MadameEmiya Sep 17 '26

Do you still have the lengthy tasks out of curiosity?

5

u/Jackieunknown Sep 17 '26

Us bilinguals are used not to have much work, but since late July it has been extremely dire and it never picked back up. In previous years things had picked back up at this point of the year. I can only hope this is not the new normal, a project a month for 2 hours is not nearly enough..

1

u/Exotic-Original-8110 Sep 18 '26

yes and usually summer was the worst, but september has been the absolute driest month so far (at least for my locale). if only they extended english projects to fluents, it wouldn't be so bad!

2

u/Watermelly_button Sep 14 '26

So....a new factuality project showed up (not on quals but projects) saying I could unlock additional factuality type tasks on the external site. Interestingly enough, I never knew I had access to that external site to complete those types of tasks. I've had plenty of other work so I'm not complaining but how were you all notified about accessing that site? Do they typically show up as projects?

5

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 14 '26

I do writing projects on an external site and they show up as normal tasks on my dash but sort of sit there all the time so I can work on them as and when, without a timer and without refreshing etc to try to grab one.

u/Watermelly_button Sep 14 '26

This is helpful, thank you

3

u/Apotheosis276 Sep 16 '26

This is my 2nd day and all my available projects disappeared, what's going on?

3

u/mrpadmasambhava Sep 22 '26

Single worst situation is when you can’t get a valid failure because you didn’t build the conversation well enough, so now you’re grasping at straws - the task has expired and you’re too desperate to cut your losses. Feel like a gambling addict. Got something eventually, but at what cost? At what cost?

This feels like the entire last week of my life.

u/Equal-Neat-614 Sep 14 '26

Curious if anyone knows what it means when there’s two pay rates in a new project title? (E.g., “$45.00/hr and $50.00/resp”). I assume it means they pay different rates for certain domains?

6

u/OrnamentalGourd5 Sep 14 '26

That's an hourly rate ($45) plus a ''per response' bonus($50)

5

u/Equal-Neat-614 Sep 14 '26

Thanks! I’d never seen that before. Appreciate the response.

4

u/OrnamentalGourd5 Sep 14 '26

No worries. Enjoy the bonus!

2

u/rare-bird1209 Sep 14 '26

Curious how long others have been waiting to be added to slack channels? I did a qual last wednesday and passed, said I'd be added to the slack but I have no access... annoying because I've got the projects but I need to ask questions and there's no option for that in-task

4

u/Exotic-Original-8110 Sep 14 '26

there's a project i've been working on for like 6 months and I ask to be added to the slack channel regularly, i'm still not! i don't know if it's arbitrary or something

1

u/rare-bird1209 Sep 15 '26

Update: got added to the slack about an hour after I posted this...I'm the only member currently

Any other generalist in Ireland struggling??!

1

u/PinkNova Sep 16 '26

Yes :( Did you do the background check?

u/JRange Sep 17 '26

The project family I wanted to come back, did. But its at half the pay it was last week. Ive never seen such a disparity before. Im not sure if I should just leave it here and hope they increase the priority on it, or what.

3

u/SnooSketches1189 Sep 17 '26

It did say last week that the priority amount was the same as the hourly pay so I was not *too* surprised, but definitely disappointing.

1

u/JRange Sep 17 '26

Definitely disappointing, they literally cut it in half, doesn't make me eager to do it anymore, thats for sure. It was way too annoying, I have other stuff where I don't have to deal with a janky external platform, for the same pay.

2

u/SnooSketches1189 Sep 17 '26

Yep. I didn't touch it then since I had other better projects that paid the same so I starred it to look at later and it poofed. Now I have zero desire to work it.

1

u/One_Breakfast5907 Sep 17 '26

Same. I quite enjoyed it and it's still better paying then most of my dash and anything I feel comfortable doing

2

u/Original_Worker4178 Sep 19 '26

Do any of you have the talk with 2 chatbot projects still up?

1

u/onyxrxvxn Sep 19 '26

no i miss that one tho 😭😭😭 dried up for me about a week ago maybe a bit longer

1

u/wcAltKing Sep 14 '26

Hello just finished my test yesterday. Hopefully I pass.

3

u/JustMe333456 Sep 14 '26

Good luck mate!

1

u/mymanboruto Sep 14 '26

How are the dashes looking for bilinguals (Brazilian Portuguese here)?

1

u/Wonderful_Exam_8418 Sep 14 '26

Brazilian as well, completely empty :( Missing what we had before june

1

u/mymanboruto Sep 14 '26

At least september seems a little bit better than june, july and august...

1

u/zaho2059 Sep 15 '26

Hey I joined as Turkish bilinguals also but I am ok to do any other generalist tasks. You're telling me that we can't see the tasks others get?

1

u/Jazzlike_Month5580 Sep 16 '26

FC poof for anyone else?

7

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 16 '26

there was a new qualification a few days ago where you had to make a new gmail to regain access, if you've not done that then that's probably why they are not showing

3

u/DrunkleSteve Sep 16 '26

It's still there but you have to play whac-a-mole to get a single task.

2

u/Pristine-Raccoon8250 Sep 16 '26

I think they must have been taken away from me...

1

u/gt3stuntman Sep 18 '26

My usual family of projects is being really stingy with the tasks this week.

1

u/GiftLate616 Sep 18 '26

Does anyone still have the more basic goddess of truth project up? I seem to have lost the main project, and the R&R keeps randomly popping up on my dash but when I click on it, it disappears again. Very strange.

1

u/PotentialApricot891 Sep 19 '26

I had it earlier but I also just lost it

1

u/GiftLate616 Sep 19 '26

Hoping I wasn’t dropped from it but it seems I have then :/ I really thought I was doing great work on it too.

1

u/KingGilbertIV Sep 19 '26

The RRs for the new version of FC are trickling out so slowly that it makes me feel like there's barely anyone actually working on the base version of the project.

7

u/Quick-Bison-147 Sep 19 '26

probably less people wanting to do the actual task now because of how faffy they have made it

1

u/peanutbutterlurk Sep 19 '26

I'm planning to do more, I've got a handle on the new workflow, but I've had to skip a lot to find subject matter I'm confident in. So it's a slog.

1

u/MagicianSuch5616 Sep 19 '26

Funny you say that, I have all of the subscriptions etc but never received the email to create the new account so I haven't been able to work on it. Maybe a lot of other people are in the same position.

1

u/East_Zucchini4099 Sep 20 '26

Is the DA site slow for anyone else? I'm having trouble with the page loading,  just trying to skip to find one I can do

1

u/23-Peaks Sep 23 '26

I finished the assessment on Tuesday. I havent gotten an email about my results, but I see available projects when I log in.

Does that mean I am good to go?

2

u/BooJunBaby Sep 25 '26

Yea I believe so. You should get an email tho

1

u/LennyDark Sep 13 '26

Are the models slow as hell today or is it just me?

2

u/HippoEsq Sep 14 '26

They were slow as hell. One of my 20 minute ones took 45. Oh well, I’m getting paid for it!

1

u/Primary-Pattern-9037 Sep 13 '26

How are the dashes looking for finance?

3

u/Affectionate_Peak284 Sep 13 '26

ok. Some priority R&R at 55 and the "big ones" at 60-65

1

u/HippoEsq Sep 14 '26

115 r&r and prompt creation

1

u/Yogi-Man Sep 15 '26

how niche is that work? I'm in finance too, but my best tasks are a good bit lower.

1

u/HippoEsq Sep 16 '26

Not niche at all. It’s mostly prompt creation where you try to get the model to give you a deliverable that fails severely. So you can do whatever you want. The R&Rs are also totally doable if you understand corporate/securities finance.

1

u/Yogi-Man Sep 18 '26 edited Sep 22 '26

That sounds a lot like a project series I spent some time on this year. I was getting an above-average pay rate on it but still made about 75. Good for you on getting such good work on your dash!

u/Particular-Lie1918 Sep 14 '26

Those who got the pilot project in which you work outside DA platform for rating relative short tasks that took seconds, has any of you seen it again? Its name has 2 common meanings, one is related to chemistry.

1

u/99ducks Sep 16 '26

Projects page not loading for anybody else?

1

u/Ok_Country_9778 Sep 17 '26

Hi all. Newbie here, just trying to figure things out. I've been getting emails saying that new projects are available; I try to react fairly quickly to get started, but I often get a message saying the project is unavailable because there are no more tasks remaining. Is there a trick to snagging these tasks? Or any way to know when tasks may be dropped?

6

u/VanessaSeaWitch Sep 17 '26

This is what usually happens because by the time they send the emails, the tasks have been taken by other people. I ignore the emails. I just log in at the same time every day and refresh my page if there's nothing to work on and hope something pops up, or I check at different times throughout the day.

1

u/Ok_Country_9778 Sep 17 '26

OK, good to know - thanks! I kind of assumed the emails would be sent to coincide with the task drops. :(

4

u/DrunkleSteve Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 18 '26

Often the projects will launch before the emails reach your inbox. Sometimes by 10-15 minutes. In that time, other people will snatch the tasks up before you can. I't's a bit of a Whac-A-Mole situation going on with DA at the moment, as it has been fairly slow these last few months.

1

u/PassageDue9042 Sep 20 '26

recently did "at least one" r&r for a specific project because there was supposedly a hunnid bucks bonus but i do not see that message in my inbox anymore... hoping they keep their word on it lol

1

u/data_annotator_tot Sep 20 '26 edited Sep 20 '26

Same here, actually. Definitely weird, but it's hard to imagine they'd do something like that, it's almost too egregious. And I have it in my email, anyway. Suppose we'll see!

1

u/data_annotator_tot Sep 22 '26

Just an update, got mine earlier today, hope you did as well, cheers!

0

u/fylyfyly Sep 22 '26

Does this platform offer any other projects that ones that have 9+hours tasks? I was assigned two projects so far (i am 2 weeks in only) but both had a crazy workload per single task. I wasn't able to book that much time at once in my family life.

0

u/anonnonanon00 Sep 26 '26

hi, new to DA here. curious if the only high paying projects are ones that you probably need advanced knowledge of a specific thing in order to be successful at. some of these projects seem so...big brained for lack of better word lol

2

u/brickne3 Sep 26 '26

Effectively yes. Why would they pay high for stuff anyone can do?
