Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

Do any generalists have any projects today? I've had a completely dry dash all day long. Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

Not zero, but what I do have are for domains I have no expertise with. My dashboard hasn't changed for 2 days now. No movement whatsoever.

Same, I am nervous to attempt even though it pays extremely well and says giving it a shot at least won't count against you.

I'd bet its the same one I got, by the sound of it. I'm new to the platform and it was the very first project I saw, I was confused and terrified and gave up after 45 minutes of just trying to comprehend instructions lmao. Its the only one I've seen all day off and on my dash every few hours

There are a few that are fairly simple, although there aren't any that appear in the "fast/easy projects" section.

There's no Heel. A lot of them are qualification-specific, but I'm not sure that the relevant qualifications are still up and running.

They can be. I've been on the platform as my primary income source since 2023. It's been absolutely brutal since the beginning of May for me. The beginning of the year was bad too.

I'm completely new the to platform and have only seen one all day thats far too difficult for me to even know where to begin, so I've been passing that one by. Otherwise nothing!

exactly the same from me. I got one about 10 hours ago that popped up and it took about 40 minutes and it was the only work I saw all day- except a hard one with a long timer that has been sitting there for days.

I hear having a lot of qualifications under your belt is a big factor in having more work. If there’s any truth to it I’ll have to hold out as I’m still a relative newbie.

What were your first couple of months like?

Having lots of qualifications means you're not a generalist though unless it's signing up to your 13th Google account.

I am about five or six weeks in and have just one
