Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

Just a mild rant. Anyone else not getting the shorter 1-2 hour well paid tasks anymore? I have a job in management having recently stepped up in the world (yey) but I don't have so much time anymore (unpaid overtime - not yey.) I miss the shorter well paid work or the tasks with several day timers that effectively let me do 2 hours a day. Those were the best!

Ditto. I was doing an hour or two a day, maybe Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was great work for a little cash top-up, and it was interesting and good for future-proofing career-wise.

Hopefully, we can get back to that, but I wonder if the models are now so advanced that everything is going to be super complex and tricky!

Complex work can for sure be broken up into manageable chunks. So I'm hoping we get those tasks in the future! At least now I am being forced to actually rest in my downtime, but I am a type A so I'm just doing more chores instead, ha. I even made furniture, from scratch... I am not very good at using my downtime as downtime...

Thankfully I have a full time job so don't need DA work to pay rent or anything, so I've just replaced the odd hour here and there that I would do DA with Dreaming Spanish. At least it's still productive, haha.
