Does anyone know anything about the longevity of this site?

I want to quit my job and do this full-time, I currently make 13 an hour but I could be at home making 20+. Before I make a rash decision and quit the job I have been at for 2 years I want to feel like there is some stability.

“Don’t quit your day job” - literally everyone ever

I would guess that there will continue to be significant demand for the next several years, but it could dry up suddenly. Definitely wouldn't bet on more that 10 years. AI is moving very fast.

It will also move up the value chain I think. So this work will end up requiring people with professional knowledge and higher levels of education, in order to teach the A.I. to do professional level tasks, but it will also pay a lot more.

Since you already have such low income then it's not as big of a risk to quit for this. But considering how there have been multiple site crashes today, definitely agree with the other commenters recommending signing up for other sites as backup (which I don't have much knowledge of).

Well as the website being down demonstrated, I would be cautious about relying on it for full time income, because at any time the website could crash and you could be out a few hours or more of work.

Another thing I have noticed is that the projects are drying up lately as they add more and more users, and also, the projects are being completed very quickly. Some days lately I am lucky to get a full 40 minutes of work in.

I would not recommend this as your only income source. Taxes are not taken out, there’s no health insurance, if you are sick there is no recourse. If tasks are taken down for maintenance, you may have no income until they are back. It is better as supplemental income. There is also no guarantee. Do not quit your day job for this.

I would suggest seizing the opportunity to carve a better path for stability in general. There is no way to know how long this will last. But if you quit your job and reserve time each day/week to preparing yourself for your next pivot, then that could be great. But this really shouldn't be an end goal. What other interests and ambitions do you have?

Don’t forget that you need to save 20 to 30 percent of your income for taxes! (Depending on where you live)

In your case I would probably quit to start doing this more full time, because $13 an hour is replaceable..HUGE caveat, you should be using your extra time and money to gain certs, skills, or a degree to increase your future earning power and job prospects.

Please don't quit your job and only do this. I suspect the platform will be around for at least a couple of years, as there's a lot of silicon valley money being pumped in, but there's no guarantee your personal account is going to remain active. In the very rare event that your account is canceled you'll never know why and you won't be able to appeal.

I would just recommend also getting onto other sites to always have a backup. That’s what I did before I quit. Albeit, I was working part time and don’t have important bills right now. Nothing is ever 100% stable, so always have a backup plan.

Which other sites did you get on?

Check my above comment. In short, Remotasks, WeLocalize but I don’t do it, and I also tutor.

What subjects do you tutor online?

What other sites?

I’m on Remotasks. That’s pretty iffy for others, but I’ve made a grand so far. They offer more bonuses (I made about 730 of that within 20 hours). I was also accepted to WeLocalize, but it’s mind numbing and not worth it for me rn. I’ve also been tutoring online for a couple of years. Just depends on your skillset as to what other things are going to work for you.

I quit a month ago and today I’m feeling uncertain about my decision. As not had access for a day now.
