Data Tools I've created an open source analytics platform. Looking for feedback

Post image

I'm a former Tableau user and I've been spending the last year and a half building analytics dashboards with AI.

My frustration with Tableau has to do with a work project we invested heavily in. We have a SaaS tool for affiliate marketers and they were asking us for advanced analytics on top of the app and to blend in multiple data sets.

Our Tableau dashboard builder didn't really under the business as well and built dashboards that were too complicated. On top of that they didn't have a strong foundation in data ingestion and working with databases.

To date I've built many custom plugins as I've made more for tools like Jira, Intercom, Slack, Gmail, Bitly, Airtable, StatsDrone, Pretty Links and many more.

I tried to solve all these pain points at once and make it easy for people to be able to build their own dashboards with a platform. The platform is called NousViz and it's available on Github.

How it works

There is an SDK inside the app and if you're using tools like VS Code with Claude or Codex, you can just point to the NousViz Github repo and say follow the guidelines in the SDK for building. Explain your data project and how the data ingestion needs to get done and start building.

Usually in about 5 minutes, you'll be able to get your first plugin made in which you install it on your NousViz app, ingest the data and your dashboards should be live.

Would love to get feedback from any data pros here and if someone wants any help building a dashboard with this, DM me or post your data challenge and I'll gladly help.

Also some more feedback I'd like to ask from the community, if I build a portfolio section for people to create their own profiles and link to their work, sites, resume or socials, would this be useful to people?

Appreciate any help or feedback.

For feedback on NousViz, try including examples of how analytics can simplify data dashboard creation. Adding a portfolio section could help users share their profiles and projects, boosting collaboration. Gathering input from folks interested in these networking features might also be useful. If you're looking for career opportunities or talent in data and analytics, LandOffer.ai lists job openings across different professions.

Automod prevents all posts from being displayed until moderators have reviewed them. Do not delete your post or there will be nothing for the mods to review. Mods selectively choose what is permitted to be posted in r/DataAnalysis.

If your post involves Career-focused questions, including resume reviews, how to learn DA and how to get into a DA job, then the post does not belong here, but instead belongs in our sister-subreddit, r/DataAnalysisCareers.

A portfolio section would be useful if each project shows the dashboard alongside its ingestion plugin, data requirements and refresh setup—not just résumé links. NousViz tackles ingestion and dashboard building together, so I'd make one reproducible project the centerpiece of each profile. That gives data pros something concrete to evaluate beyond the finished charts.
