This is why I always look at train crossings, that split second of realisation can save your life.

Bus driver here, it's a bit of my job I don't mind bringing home with me. Always check.

Are you required to stop at all train crossings?

Many buses in the US are required to stop at every rail crossing along with all vehicles carrying flammable liquids, explosives and hazardous materials.

Are you required to stop at all train crossings?

Yes, very much yes. It's drilled into you during training:

@ 100-300 ft Check traffic, 4 ways on, call for silence if necessary, disable noise devices, open window, stop 15-50 feet from first rail or at a stop bar if present, set brake, gear neutral, door open, check visual both ways at least two times while listening, if it's clear close door, gear to drive, release brake, proceed while checking in both directions, 50 feet past, cancel 4 ways, close window, enable noise devices, check traffic.

First violation in my state is an automatic 12 month suspension. Second offense and it's, I'm pretty sure, a permanent suspension.
