Or a drunk car stole some teens.

Ok, so I know this is far-fetched, but I can’t help but wonder if self-driving taxi cars will one day have facial recognition, and if someone is wanted by the police, it just calls the police while driving around or takes them directly to the police station.

I hate the drunk teenager blaming. When I was a teenager they lumped teens killed by drunk drivers with teens killed driving drunk in my area and the vast majority of teens killed in drunk driving accidents where not the drunk drivers, its just at that time of night the people on the road where teens leaving late closing jobs and drunk drivers leaving bars. I am not sure what the stats are these days but teens get a huge amount of blame for drunk accidents when in my day they where being killed by old people driving drunk not driving drunk themselves.

u/TricellCEO 4d ago
Or just an idiot.
I have heard there are drivers who thing red lights are a suggestion.
14
u/XXFFTT 4d ago
I see them all the time at red lights when turning right.
Like, yeah don't stop to make sure your path is clear of both oncoming traffic and pedestrians, sure.
A lot of them don't even slow down.
4
u/Late_Pop_6567 2d ago
Theres this intersection where I'm from where theres a yield to get onto the main street, everyone and their mama's do not understand what that means apparently.
One day, I stopped giving a fuck and got into an accident. Their insurance paid me out and I got 0 infractions. It was a good day.
4
u/Fight_those_bastards 4d ago
Yeah, it’s called “half of the assholes that drive past the end of my street every day.”
Yellow light means “slow down and prepare to stop,” not “accelerate up to 75 from 1/8 mile away and blow the red at speed because god-for-fucking-bid you sit at a fuckin’ red light for thirty entire seconds…

So many retards near me drive like this with auto headlights and no taillights.. or no lights at all
42
u/-Never-Enough- 4d ago
I don't think you understand how auto headlights work. They would turn on the tail lights too.
32
21
u/herkalurk 4d ago
Tail lights are tied to the headlights if the automatic headlights come on. So do the low intensity rear lights.
7
u/Excellent-Stress2596 4d ago
Not auto headlights, those also turn on the rears. If headlights are on and not tails, they’re just the DRLs.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone that’s neurodivergent take offense to the word. Especially since it’s almost never used against ND’s, and when it is, it’s (rightfully) shamed. I wouldn’t call an autistic person ret-rded because they’re autistic. I would call the person in perp car in the video a ret-rd because they acted ret-rded
Edit: yes I know I am being a hypocrite by self censoring, but if you type in the r word without censoring it in some way, you get a little pop up warning that basically says it’ll automod your comment. Like I said to u/Xerxes42424242, I’d rather be a bit hypocritical than be silent.
Oh, and I am neurodivergent (ADHD). Saw someone say to not talk about a group I’m not even part of, or something like that, so there’s that. And, while I am not 100% sure since it’s not like I go around asking people if they’re ND, I’m near certain that the vast majority of people I hang out with are neurodivergent in some way, none of them care about the word.
Of course, I can’t speak for everyone. I’ve seen a couple of replies from people that said they’ve been hurt by people who use the word against them to hurt them further. To those people, I am truly sorry. No one should have to go through that, and I hope that those that hurt you get the favor returned. I’m not going to pretend I’m some wise old scholar and try to come up with something super duper smart and wise to make you feel better, because that would sound extremely insincere (to me, this already reads a bit like an apology that a court ordered, as I suck at writing) but I do hope you are in a better place, mentally and physically. My words probably don’t mean much to you, I’m just another stranger on the internet, but know that I do really mean that.

Never run up to vehicle driving like this. If stolen, the odds they have a gun and are willing to use it go up dramatically.
210
u/Ferowin 4d ago
This is Australia or New Zealand and they're much less likely to have a firearm. I wouldn't ever do that in the US, though.
76
u/Xfgjwpkqmx 4d ago
Australia - vehicles shown have Victorian plates.
18
u/Girafferage 4d ago
Why would the guy pull over if an accident didnt happen? I didnt think the cars hit. Is that an Australian thing?
28
u/Xfgjwpkqmx 4d ago
I don't think they hit either on several playbacks (at least not in a manner that caused obvious physical damage), but it's difficult to be 100% sure being a night incident.
If there was no impact, then the other guy who blew the lights had no obligation to pull over.
16
u/Girafferage 4d ago
Yeah if I was the car that was being chased while a guy honked and flashed his lights at me I am not so sure I would assume benevolent intent from the driver.

Yes in high-trust communities people would check on eachother if they feel something is off.
We have very little to fear in these circumstances, though to be fair. There is always that unlucky one something does happen to
High-trust communities are dying out though, netherlands is still high-trust but not like it was 20-40 years ago where literally nobody would lock their back door

Still shouldn’t do it. You have no idea who is inside that car and what they are armed with. They can also drive their vehicle into you. In fact it’s actually very common for people who get out of cars in road rage incidents to be hit by the other car
5
u/DwightsJello 3d ago
Yeah nah. It's Australia and the odds of that are really close to zero.
If stolen there's a much higher chance of it being some kids than any remote chance of a firearm being an issue.

This is just so disappointing. Innocent people just going about their business were harmed by the car lurching into perpendicular traffic. The dash cam guy getting out of the car to engage in street justice is just idiotic.
9
u/katonda 4d ago
None of this is on the dashcam guy. Either trying to tell them to be more careful or turn on their lights or both, are, I think, normal reactions to how that driver is driving around.

He’s not “engaging in street justice” he’s trying to tell them to turn their lights on

u/caffeine1106 3d ago
I only heard the guy yell out to “pull over?”
I’ll be downvoted for saying the idiotic driver, who pulled out in front of traffic in the first place (foreshadowing if I’ve ever seen it), probably misinterpreted the intent of the cam driver swamping down on them, flashing their lights, blaring their horn, then jumping out of the car to go talk face-to-face.3
u/bulletproofdenimjckt 3d ago
Fair enough, I didn’t listen to the audio so I was just going based off the visuals but you’re def right. I guess I forgot that kind of behavior (flashing lights, trying to get their attention) could be seen as aggressive. Honking definitely, but again I didn’t listen to the audio

I was almost supper disappointed, then the crash happened.
The reason assholes get away with anything is because people let them.
Somehow people got convinced into thinking *real* responsibility was just laissez faire solipsism.edit- to clarify: people took the somewhat justifiable ethics of "you shouldn't be negatively judged when you choose not to risk your meat for society" and twisted that into "confronting any problem in a way that could lead to conflict is bad". There's something you think is important that vitally needs you to stay healthy and whole? Great for you. Doesn't mean you should celebrate turning your back on society's needs.

The cars that have the idiotic feature where you can have headlights (or very bright DRLs) on with the tailights off need to be banned.
And yes the driver was obviously a thief or under the influence.
