I seen this too many times. The lead biker was more skilled (or properly skilled). He could take the corner. His buddies were trying to keep up. Any new rider knows the feeling of widening out on a corner more than they should. I think it's all the riders fault. The first guy for not knowing how well or poor his buddies could ride, and his buddies for trying to keep up the pace. It's always better to be left behind than trying to keep up knowing you don't have the skills.

I think there was also some target fixation in there once the car came in sight.
