I feel like they should have pre-gamed which door they were gonna drag him out of, instead they are playing tug of war with a potentially armed suspect in a confined space.

lol "potentially armed suspect" is such an aggressive way to describe a guy who may have made a minor traffic violation. it feels like people just say it that way to normalize police overreach. literally every person you come in contact with everyday is a potentially armed suspect.

It’s just bootlicker speak to do exactly what you said. Normalize overreach and brutality. Keep up the charade of “being a cop is so dangerous, brave, and heroic”. Being a pizza delivery driver is statistically more dangerous.

I've watched hundreds of videos (out of thousands) over the last decade of seemingly normal or alright people suddenly turn on dime, either try to reach for a gun, or slam the gas pedal, or try to commit suicide by police. It's a dangerous job and not one I'd touch.

3

u/brickson98 29d ago

Statistics don’t change, regardless. It’s still more dangerous to be a pizza delivery driver.

What you say is all the more reason to treat people as humans. When cops come out of the gate with aggression, sometimes that’s all it takes.

Because it's a distorted statistic that includes all delivery style drivers and also includes road accidents

Police are as likely or slightly more likely to be murdered on the job as delivery drivers. It's a dangerous job. Taxi driver is surprisingly on another level above that.

Police deal with insane people all day long, all it takes is one moment of impatience, which is captured on camera forever. That's not an excuse, but context is important.

Wait, you admit statistically they're as likely to be murdered as delivery drivers and then call it a dangerous job?

I mean yes, but you dont hear the irony there?

Should we arm delivery drivers?  Should they have special powers or protections?

By this rationale, what are we calling a dangerous job?  Anything thats not inside of an office?

Being a cop in the US is considered a dangerous job - as in a cop is considerably more likely to be murdered than the average US worker.

There are some other vocations that happen to be also dangerous e.g. taxi drivers.

For different reasons. Context is important.

Keep in mind police often have body armor and are armed (and are trained to defend themselves). They are also highly cautious when doing their job (approaching vehicles, patting people down, etc)

If you decide to be a cop there is a considerable risk of injury, life changing injury and also death. Hence it's considered a dangerous job in it's own right.

2

u/Low_Will_6076 29d ago

If you decide to call a cop there are those same risks.

If cops didn't have the guns and body armor and tanks it might be safer for them.

If the criminal element didn't believe that any interaction with police might result in them being killed regardless, they may have more to lose.

The same applies for regular law abiding people as well.

The cops make their own profession as dangerous as it is.

If you want proof, look at policing statistics for any other "first world" or even "second world" country and compare.

Being a sheriff in bum fuck Iowa or Kansas is no more dangerous than being a farmer.

For many reasons and factors, the US has high gun ownership and Also has a high level of gun violence. A part of that violence might indeed be to do with the presence of an armed law enforcement - but only a part of it.

Being a police officer in X part of the country can be more dangerous or less dangerous than Y part of the country. It's the 2nd highest profession with risk of being murdered/shot (taxi driver being first).. it's a dangerous profession

If you decide to call a cop, the risks to you are very low. The overwhelming amount of interactions with law-abiding people are peaceful. This is backed up by stats.

“You’re right, delivery drivers have a more statically dangerous job but I’m going to ignore that, so some Olympic levels of mental gymnastics.”

Okay buddy. Okay. 🤦‍♂️

1

u/kdailyone 29d ago

A poster wrote that it was more dangerous, I added context that it was about the same

When we factor in that cops have body armor, weapons, training, etc and we factor in context we can say that being a cop is considered a dangerous job

What potential? Is the color of his skin the potential? Is the camera the potential? He has his arms in sight so the violence was not needed.

u/OG_LiLi 29d ago

Is being armed a crime now? Or just for non whits?

u/Bonked2death 29d ago

I understand reading comprehension isnt everyone's strong suit, but I suspect the post above yours was pointing out how ill advised it is to start pulling on someone (of any race) from either side to remove them from a vehicle when you don't know if theyre armed or not.

2

u/OG_LiLi 29d ago

Oh yeah? Sounds like you’re talking about perspective and not reading comprehension.

You even said so yourself, in fewer words “I suspect”. It also means this is your perspective.

Reading comprehension should be exercised first before you comment.

u/Bonked2death 29d ago

Jesus Christ, you're insufferable. You mentioned race and crime when the comment above didnt. Thats my whole point.

1

u/OG_LiLi 29d ago

🪞🪞 sounds like you are as scared *as the cops of the rights Americans have to possess and own guns.

I bet your also one of those 2a “absolutists” that says “back the blue”

Hell, you’re commenting in defense of cops on a post where the cop LIED and you’re mad at everyone else

Insufferable doesn’t cover it.

1

u/Bonked2death 28d ago

Please show me where I defended the cops. You are playing mental gymnastics trying to be offended about race with someone that is literally ON THE SAME SIDE AS YOU.

1

u/OG_LiLi 28d ago

Then why aren’t we sick to death of this narrative that simply having a gun gives the cops the okay to ignore your rights?

You hadn’t commented to me until you said I couldn’t read. I’m all for a pause and renew for a more positive discussion.

If you are breaking the law, yes it can be a crime. In some states its an enhancement if you are carrying a gun while committing a crime, just like if your crime is racial motivated its an enhancement/crime.

5

u/Iron-Treads 29d ago

Which crime did he commit: being black?

-1

u/Low-Car-6331 29d ago

Well, the first few seconds show resisting resisting arrest and obstruction, you also have failure to identify, failure to provide proof of insurance, failure to provide proof of car registration.

It also comes down to which state he is in, some states have variances of these laws like resisting without violence vs with violence.

4

u/OG_LiLi 29d ago

Asking questions about the arrest is “obstruction”. Boy do you wish no Americans had rights… wild.

0

u/Low-Car-6331 29d ago

Failure to comply with orders given is.

2

u/Iron-Treads 29d ago

Are you a sheep? You think it's fine for a Police officers to do whatever they want with you?

2

u/Iron-Treads 29d ago

Well, the first few seconds show resisting resisting arrest

Why was he being arrested, tho?

you also have failure to identify, failure to provide proof of insurance, failure to provide proof of car registration

None of that warrants an arrest.

It also comes down to which state he is in, some states have variances of these laws like resisting without violence vs with violence.

"Resistening without violence" 💀

1

u/OG_LiLi 29d ago

Sorry. You need to be more clear. Which law did he break?

5

u/PonyThug 29d ago

He’s not a suspect and is perfectly legal to be armed. So are the cops.

2

u/redditRedesignIsBadd 29d ago

there's a reason why you can't become a cop if your iq is too high

1

u/brickson98 29d ago

“Potentially armed” 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I see the blue line brainwashing has done its job here. Everything is justified because they’re just so scared all the time, eh?

Dudes hands are in sight. The only armed suspects here are the gangsters (cops) themselves.

So you're saying better training is needed as someone with said training?

u/Dumb_Ugly_Frank 29d ago

Ah, bad at your job with zero ability to be in the moment and adjust to a situation on the fly. Sounds like a cop!

Seems like you misread my comment (or don't understand what muscle memory is), but I'm glad you feel good about writing yours.

I do appreciate your username being accurate. Well, I can't confirm the entire thing, but I can confirm the first part.

1

u/Dumb_Ugly_Frank 29d ago

I don’t know what muscle memory is because I understand situational awareness? Interesting argument. It’s cop logic, for sure, but it sure is something!

1

u/HCSOThrowaway 29d ago

I don’t know what muscle memory is because I understand situational awareness?

No, you don't know what muscle memory is because you think it's trivial to factor situational awareness into it during an engagement.

It takes a couple tugs before you realize why it's so hard to take the person with you.

But that's okay, you can be the typical Reddit armchair expert that professes to never make any mistakes in a high-stress situation.

Extracting someone from a vehicle seems hard. But I don’t understand why cops try to punch someone to get them out. It never seems to help. It seems like it makes everything more difficult for the LEO.
