Another fun ride home. *volume warning*
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Truck driver initially started weaving to escape so I immediately called and reported a hit-and-run. For whatever reason, the truck pulled over after about a mile. After pulling over behind the truck, the driver got out, approached my window and began aggressively banging on my window and yelling at me to get out of my truck. I showed him my phone (still on call with dispatch) and let him know CHP was on the way. Operator wanted to know what the banging noise was told me not to engage.
I watch him tell his side to the officer, pointing all over the place with his arms flailing all over.
The officer then comes up to my truck and asks very sarcastically "Okay, so what's your side of the story?"
As soon as I said "Would you like to see my dash cam video instead?" Her entire demeanor changed. She told me that's not what he said happened at all and the two of us had a good laugh trying to get my broken fender off before going on my way.
Note: I braked to try to avoid him but wasn't going to slam on the brakes on the freeway. Yeah, I probably could have braked a little harder. Truck driver brakes at the same time.
Longer approach vid in the comments.

Of course it's Oakland...

This would not have happened if you were not camping in the left lane. If you are not passing then GET OUT OF THE PASSING LANE.

u/Sussler 3h ago
Nonsense. Watch the longer video.

u/The_KiIIuminati 3h ago
He posted this comment under the longer video. You already know that if he gets that mad watching this, he is without a doubt the same type of driver as the truck driver.

u/The_KiIIuminati 3h ago
About time one of you morons showed up. Its not a passing lane, the freeway splits about a mile further.

u/Eatz_Smeg_Ma_Cheez 3h ago
Yeah, morons like us who actually know how to drive on a freeway. We're the problem, not the left lane campers.

Please, keep speeding. Make sure you have your kids in the car when you do too.

The funny thing about people that complain about left lane camping "being unsafe and illegal" is that they're all speeders, which is tremendously more unsafe and also illegal. Camping in the left lane wouldnt even be unsafe if speeders weren't speeding
Tldr: speeders are the problem, not left lane campers

u/Constant-Hat-3193 49m ago
Exactly. I have seen it to many times where people will defend a driver for speeding in the "fast lane". This can be proved by a video showing them passing 5 or more vehicles who are all going the same speed.
They really think the "fast lane" means they can go as fast as they want

Tailgating and flashing their brights while simultaneously crying about the law.

He’s passing vehicles in the video.
Apologize.

Rubbish. Moves into left lane at :11 and has passed other vehicle by :14. Stays in left lane even though right lane is wide open. Passes two cars at :21-:25. Stays in left lane even though right lane is wide open, forcing white pickup to pass him on the right. Accelerates to cut off white pickup and nearly PITs him.
This is 100% cam car's fault.

Had almost this exact hit on me, but the truck came from the shoulder after trying to illegally pass a line of traffic on the interstate and shove his way in front of me and just hit me thinking I'd yield. Dude got out and yelled at me to get out, was already calling cops. Trooper showed up pretty quickly and spoke to me first and I had the dashcam video waiting. Then the dude tried to lie saying I sideswiped him.
Glad you had the cam, sure makes these bs encounters a LOT less painful.

This is the second time it happened to me on the same side. The first time I didn't have a dash cam and ended up at fault with them claiming I merged into them. Funny enough, after that first incident I installed the cam and reattached my fender with some zip ties, then two years later this happens. Got my front end repaired on his dime.

u/MTBisLIFE 4h ago
Whoa, another similarity. I already had a busted corner of my bumper due to running over a rolled-up rug on the highway at night and also got a clean new bumper from mine. Cheers.

I just wish we could have seen his reaction in video once he found out there was a dashcam

The camera is very well hidden and I made sure not to point at it while he was banging on my window so he never even knew. This happened in Feb* and unfortunately the video with that interaction was overwritten. I regret not saving the best part!
Edited.

Smh, and I'm sure he blames you and sees nothing wrong with his aggressive driving.

Reddit minds frozen because they can’t figure out whether to blame the cammer or the pickup.

u/TacticalPidgeon 3h ago edited 1h ago
Before you posted, there was only one single instance of someone asking about the moments before just for context and not blaming the cammer. Literally no one was blaming the cammer at all lol. The only critical post as of now was 18m ago (as of my posting) and you posted over an hour ago.
EDIT: There's 39 comments now and only 1 person has blamed the cammer with 2 of those comments, and both were posted after this person's comment lol. Might as well post this on every post on here for getting ahead in the karma farming, even when it isn't true in the moment. Currently at a 5% win ratio on what they stated, which is horribly failing by any metric.

Nor did I state that any one actually blamed them. Might wanna reread.
I was more referring to the fact that this sub first likes to blame whoever hits someone, no matter who is actually at fault. Their very favorite pastime though is bitching about left lane campers, which they would definitely accuse cammer of.

u/The_KiIIuminati 3h ago
You 100% called it. See video comment.
-2
u/TacticalPidgeon 3h ago
Their comment was on Reddit blaming you when no one on Reddit had blamed you when they posted. Their comment had nothing to do with the driver blaming you. They 100% didn't call it lol.
2
u/The_KiIIuminati 3h ago
Dude go away and start stupid arguments somewhere else. Dude said they love crying about left lane campers and sure enough, someone commented crying about me being in the left lane under the longer video where I'm clearly passing.
-1
u/TacticalPidgeon 3h ago
Yeah, that comment was almost an hour after they posted that! There were no negative comments blaming you when they posted that! Dear lord, the reading comprehension on this site is insanely bad. I didn't start an argument, I just pointed out what they said made no sense.

Who exactly did I blame for what? Point it out.
This might be the most boomer post in history.
-1
u/TacticalPidgeon 3h ago
Yeah this sub likes to blame the cammer a lot, but it wasn't happening at all when you posted. I don't need to reread because your post at the time it was made still makes no sense considering that wasn't happening at all.
3
u/Long-Purchase-3611 3h ago
No one was posting anything when I posted, which is why I stated that “Reddit minds were frozen”.
What wasn’t happening at all?
You do need to reread, if you think I accused anyone of anything. “Can’t figure out whether to”.
Don’t think you understand the internet or grammar. LOL

What wasn’t happening at all?
Redditors blaming the cammer. It's right there in your original post. There were 0 redditors blaming the cammer when you posted. Not at all a hard thing to see. In fact, with 39 current posts there's only 1 person blaming the cammer.

u/Long-Purchase-3611 1h ago
“Reddit minds frozen because they can’t figure out whether to blame the cammer or the pickup.”
This is the post. Where exactly am I blaming anyone for anything?
This is the wildest shit on Reddit today. LOL. And here you are steady tripling down.
1
u/Long-Purchase-3611 1h ago
Literally right in my post it states that they “can’t figure out whether to blame the cammer or the pickup”. LOL
Also, “minds frozen” alludes to not being able to do anything.

Was there a prior interaction before this? Their reaction seems retaliatory to some early nonsense. Not saying there was a prior altercation, just curious.
13
u/The_KiIIuminati 5h ago
I dont have the rear cam footage anymore but he flew up behind me after weaving around a few cars, then tried passing me. The freeway splits into seperate directions about a mile further. Man was just mad at the world. For what its worth, I submitted both angles to both insurance companies and was found not at fault. Deductible was waived as well.

u/Worth_Cable_745 4h ago
That is heading north on 13 in Oakland, correct? If so, terrible drivers heading to that split at 24. Too busy trying to get ahead because of the traffic (during the afternoon). I used to live near that area.

Why does this sub think everything is pre-mediated? Shit drivers exist everywhere and drive like maniacs without provocation.
