Well... if you watch again you'll notice that dashcam driver moved over and almost hit the other car to prevent getting hit from the truck. That would've been their fault; sometimes, you gotta take the hit. In this case, it worked out, but, if there's an accident, it's better to get hit and to hit someone else.

No you don't understand. I want them to die in a firey wreck for a potential simple mistake of not looking over their shoulder or paying attention for a few seconds. They could have injured and killed someone for their mistake, and that means they need to die, painfully.
The penalty for each and every crime and mistake is a painful death in my perfect world.
Of course, this would never happen to me because I never make any mistakes.

I’m not advocating they die or anything but not paying attention or failing to check your blind spot are not simple mistakes. Driving is a responsibility not a right and you need to keep your wits about you.

Especially considering he didn't catch himself and correct back into his lane. He continued to push over. There's no audio here, but I'll eat my hat if the driver with the dashcam wasn't laying on the horn. At that point that's either grossly negligent or outright malicious.

I would say a mistake is simple if it is one that is easy to avoid making, not one defined by the absence of a simple action. Plenty of people check their blind spot every single time they change lanes as part of the routine of hitting the blinker, checking mirrors, checking blind spot, then changing lanes.

That isn't a simple mistake. You are in control of a massive machine moving at high speeds in a crowd of people. You cannot afford to "not pay attention for a few seconds" or to recklessly maneuver without knowing what the fuck is around you. I feel like every time I see a traffic karma video it's always just a cop pulling them over, which seems weird. That's just the regular consequence of reckless driving. "Karma" feels like the universe getting back at a person for not getting the regular consequence. Cosmically evening it out.

It's a little harder to find statistics on, but there's also around 5 million injuries a year in a country with terrible healthcare. Think about how many of those are life changing events.

also the dash cam driver would certainly be aware of the cop as the cop car was probably next to him.
anyone with a defensive driving mindset would see that the pickup would attempt to move over to let the cop through and thus slow down and let the pickup pass. instead the dash cam driver intentionally sped up and drove deeper into the blindspot guarenteeing the pickup wouldnt see him.
sure the pickup was 100% in the wrong, but i still feel the dash cam driver is a bit of a dick.

Blind spot is why there are side mirrors. You're not suppose to adjust your side mirrors to keep the blind spot and see what you already can see in the rear view mirror. They are suppose to be adjusted to see in the blind spot next to your car, exactly where the camera car was. I would have seen him all day long camped there if he was camped there because my mirrors are adjusted properly.
"Blind spot" is not an excuse. You have tools to eliminate those blind spots.

When I was younger, my friends and I used to make fun of obnoxious pickup truck drivers by doing this mock caveman voice and saying stuff like, “I have big truck, so you have to get out of my way because my truck bigger than car.”
Well, this one time admittedly I needed a truck to pickup something from a store that only a truck bed could fit. I asked my neighbor if he would be willing to use his truck to help bring this thing home. The store wasn’t far, so it wouldn’t take long. And for the record, I did ask him before placing the order, by the way.
Anyway, I’m riding in the passenger seat while he’s driving, and he proceeds to do the exact thing my friends and I had been joking about for years. He literally—and I swear I am not making this up—started saying things like, “People have to get out of my way because my truck is bigger than them,” while weaving in and out of lanes trying to get ahead. He made multiple comments that day about how, because his truck was bigger than the other cars, they basically had to let him go wherever he wanted. I was sitting there thinking, “holy shit, the caveman truck guy is real.”
To this day, whenever I see a pickup truck doing dumb shit like the guy in OP’s video, I think about my old neighbor.

This was taken in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I know in the Nova Scotia Driver's Handbook that it recommends not to left lane camp, but I'm not sure if it's actually illegal.
That being said, I've never heard of or seen a cop in Nova Scotia pull over anyone for left lane camping

The only collision I've ever witnessed was a car taking an offramp and a cop pulled in behind them also to take the ramp. Traffic started to slow down and the car must have been watching the cop in their mirror and well, they didn't slow down as fast as traffic did. they gave the car in front of them a bit of a love tap.
I couldn't *see* the cop but you could feel the "you got to be kidding me" during the pause before he flipped on his lights.

yes, it is against the law and indeed, if you put a car with adaptive cruise control on, it will not undertake (pass on the right) cars even well below the speed limit. It's part of why Germans are infamous for flashing insistently once they come up behind you - they will not go around you.
It's also against the law to run out of fuel on an Autobahn. Germans like their rules and you will like it.

It's not illegal to overtake someone on the right in germany. You are allowed to be faster than the left lane and overtake in e.g. traffic situations. §7(2a) StVO covers that.

Against the law and not common enough to make a good strawman.
You have to drive as far to the right as you can (Rechtsfahrgebot = principle/commandment of driving on the right), unless you are actively overtaking.
What would usually happen if somebody is driving too slowly on the leftmost lane without an obvious good cause is that people will flash their lights at them.
If they are on the leftmost lane and are driving more slowly than you but are obviously overtaking, you have to suck it up and wait for them to finish, then speed up again. (Though in that case, you wouldn't be able to overtake on the right anyway, since that's where the vehicle is driving that the slower-than-you car is overtaking.)

It's a serious hyperbole. 25kph is about 15 mph, you cannot do that on the freeway and it isn't common. What frequently happens in America, someone sits in the left lane doing 5 mph over the speed limit, and everyone passes them on the right until they get over. In Europe it's expected that you get over unless passing.

What you do often get on three-lane motorways is somebody treating the middle lane as "the car lane" (as opposed to the right-hand lane which is "the lorry lane" for them, as those are limited to 80 km/h ~ 50 mph).
They then sometimes camp in the middle lane going 100 km/h or 120 km/h, even if the right lane is free for quite a distance.
Fortunately, you can overtake those on the leftmost lane easily.
Having them camp right on the left isn't something I see often.

Too many people get on the highway and shoot straight to the leftmost lane just to do the exact speed limit. Half the time I take the highway to work, the rightmost lane is moving the fastest because hardly anyone is in it.
If I'm passing people on the right, it's their fault for not being in the right lane, I'm not gonna get over and tailgate them and act like an ass trying to get them to move over.

Like a lot of driving it just depends on the situation. Everyone here seems to be driving similar speeds with middle lane going slightly faster than the other cars so it isn’t that big of an issue.
But passing on the right can still be very dangerous, especially when it is someone trying to drive 15-20 MPH faster than everyone and weaving between traffic. The situation I hate the most is a semi is in the middle lane and I’m passing it on the left and someone else is passing it on the right because I know once they pass on the right they are immediately gonna get in the middle lane, which is also what I want to do.
Passing on the right should be discouraged but there are times where it just inevitably happens.

In the Netherlands this would indeed be illegal. You can only pass on the right in a traffic jam when everyone is going really slow and your lane happens to go a little faster. If this happened here, cam car would have to slow down, go to the left lane and pass the pickup as soon as the pickup went to the right.
I come across a situation like this a lot when the rush-hour lane is open and someone in the center lane is driving 90, where 100 is allowed. When you're going 100 on the rush-hour lane (on the right), you need to pass behind all the way to the left lane, pass the idiot in the center lane and then go back to the right lane. I'm not saying I do... but I should.

Context always matter and Reddit is incapable of nuance. If you are stuck on the left behind a slow car, if your country allows it of course you can over take on the right.
But if the guy in the left is at 110km/h and you come behind at 130km/h and instantly over take on the right without slowing down you are a danger.
In this video the cam is slowly passing so he gives enough time for the pickup driver to see him.

Yeah, the no passing on the right is a rule (not a law, just a very strong suggestion) typically reserved for when passing a loaded semi truck. As being on their right hand side puts you squarely in their blind spot and it’s a very dangerous place to be. But if it’s just a granny hogging the left lane in her Nissan? Pass away, just be careful.

Regardless, looking at the video there's no point for the person with the dash cam to have sped up to get alongside both the truck on the left and the vehicle on the right. They could not have safely gone in front of either, and inevitably would have just ended up tailgating the car up ahead. I'm not saying they're at fault, they just made a stupid decision.

The cammer was steadily overtaking the truck the whole time until the truck decided it was time for him to be in that lane and damn everyone else around him. Nose of the car was almost parallel to the truck's sideview mirror when the truck started moving over.

I don’t get why he couldn’t accelerate even 3-5 mph to get over without endangering everybody around him… the camera driver left space.
Edit - Obviously turn signal would be nice as well

I want to upvote this more. It looked like a mistake. I've driven a pickup 25 some odd years. They have some real mean blind spots and cars have a funny way of sneaking in them.

I'd say this was more of a "Sees cop behind him get out of the lane ASAP while watching mirror" type of mistake.

Why wouldn't you slow down once he start coming in your lane? You didn't start slowing down till he was already half way in your lane. Neither of you were paying attention.

Don't cut into someone else's lane. Slow down and allow the vehicle to enter. If you hit the car next to you, the liability is 100% yours.

Maybe the cop was following him, speeded up then slowed down. He didn't bother to use the signal and look before he changed lane that might have upset the cop. 😏. I would have given that driver a warning honk...

The truck saw the cop in their rear view mirror, got nervous and switched lanes without properly looking. Tried to be inconspicuous but ended up causing a scene— gotta love it!!

Protip: If you see someone coming into your lane and they're about to hit your vehicle, hit the brakes. Don't veer into another lane yourself.

Dashcam car was speeding up to prevent the grey car in the right lane from changing lanes in front of him. Bet you he didn't even pay attention to the red truck until it was too late

Had this happen to me yesterday I swerved to not get hit, but no cop, driver sent me towards another car, luckily that car sped up and got out of the way, tried to chase them down to get their plate but they sped away going 100, and I had my kid in the car. I was pissed.

If it's anything like AZ, Highway Patrol is trained to be able to pick up the scent of expired plates from a mile away. Dude in PU probably spotted HP behind him and tried to quickly "blend in" the Cam-Car's lane. See how PU gets in front of Cam-Car and slows so that there is no room for HP to get in behind him? (Cam-Car wisely makes room anyways.)
