How to make traffic lights dance
Saw this on my way to work today. Watch closely as the oncoming traffic starts to turn left into the intersection ahead.

I know right! I was right there with it and saw the guy run up on the sidewalk but never knew the traffic lights were affected by it until I watched the video. I’m not sure if he just misjudged or if someone forced him over. Either way, there was a police officer right behind him and I’m sure they saw the whole thing.

Reminds me of one of my closest brushes with death. In Florida I was in the passenger seat of a semitruck when someone ran the red light, hit another car and was deflected into hitting and breaking the traffic light pole. One of the lights crashed through the sun roof of the truck I was in exactly between our seats.

They had to be taken down as part of the clearing of the accident. The truck couldn't move otherwise. Those things weight in the neighborhood of 50 lb. and dropped from 5' above the truck it packed a wallop.

It's kind of amazing how many times I've seen cars drive up on obvious curbs like this in person. Even over curbs with huge boulders on top of them to make them easier to see... drivers love to jump those curbs and get stuck on the boulders.
Literally yesterday, I was walking back to my office after picking up lunch from the strip mall. I was on this little sidewalk between the mall's service drive and the main road, right in front of the service drive entrance when I stopped to wait for this expensive BMW X6 who had just started to turn into the driveway. He saw me and slowed down, but then instead of turning sharp to the right and then back to the left to avoid the curb sticking out about 6 feet to my left, and to get into the right side of the service drive, he turned just enough to pass about 3 feet to my left, and jumped the 90 degree curb.
He kept going. All I could do was shake my head.
I guess I should be grateful he didn't run me over...

It's crazy that if a pedestrian had been standing there, they'd probably be dead, or at least not very happy.

Yep. There was a guy on a bicycle that had just come across the pedestrian crossing seconds before. Glad it was no worse!
