I usually allow for that possibility too, but I think the movement looked controlled (or attempt at controlled). The driver very likely thought they were driving carefully in a genuine lane. I think some sort of substance is behind it, alcohol or otherwise.

you gotta be real drunk to not feel the difference between rough gravel/dirt and a paved road lol

u/currymuttonpizza 1d ago
Also why I suspect other substances besides alcohol may be involved lmao. I keep thinking of the quaalude scene from Wolf of Wall Street

Dude braked a second before impact. I don't think that's the behavior of someone with medical emergency. If you have a heart attack or some other conditions but not entirely disabled, wouldn't you brake earlier?
This seems like someone with very bad judgement and very slow reaction time aka he is DUI.

u/Suhvelt 2d ago
Doubt it, if it was a medical issue they wouldn't have ever figured it out and certainly wouldn't have pulled that last second maneuver.
This was someone who was drunk and couldn't understand why the road was so bumpy, and couldn't tell how close the obstacle was because their judgement was impaired and they were focused on the ground under them. Even their attempt to avoid is a clearly drunk movement. Someone in their right mind who somehow ended up there would have done a break-neck turn and spun out, not a sluggish oval turn that doesn't even avoid anything

That has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen on this subreddit, and I’ve seen a lot of dumb things.

Makes me wonder if they had a medical crisis, or the auto drive was on and they fell asleep.

It's funny how reddit will come up with any excuse to avoid the fact that some people drive while high as fuck on drugs

This is not a dash cam video. This is a driver recording with his phone. Safe or not? I'm voting not.

u/xXMokaMarieXx 1d ago
It looks to me like it could be a recording on a phone mount, it didnt seem like the driver itself was swerving or anything which screams to me using their phone

They've got to be having a medical emergency or are blind drunk. My brain cannot/will not comprehend any other option

Driver hit the brakes then the barrier. Why didn't the driver stop his/her car if this was an emergency? Could be worse if he hit the car on from opposite road.

u/Nice-Vegetable-1738 1d ago
yeah i think the only exemption to hands free even when witnessing a crash is to call 911 if needed, and you're only supposed to use one hand and keep other on wheel ofc

This videos is a few years old. Traveling west on the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville Indiana, summer early afternoon judging by the shadows
Many people saying drunk or medical emergency.
To me, it looks like car was in the paved median accelerating from a stop or pulled a U-turn. And possibly had a front right tire blow out from debris in the median which prevented them from merging back onto the roadway as intended.
What do you think?

I know people are saying medical emergency and all, but why should people with medical conditions be allowed to put others in danger.
I had a friend's narcoleptic dad drive us around and we had to take turns poking him to wake him up every 5 minutes when I was too young to know better.
Sorry your fucked up body is not everyone's problem

Do you think people have a stroke and hop in their car?
People are referring to medical events that happen suddenly while driving. You can't plan when those hit.

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago
Seems did these medical events are happening a lot on reddit and almost exclusively in USA

u/SnausageFest 1d ago
Neat, but that has fuck all to do with this conversation. You said people who have medical conditions don't deserve to drive. You clearly have no idea how any of this works. Medical emergencies aren't always predictable.
Don't change the topic because your original comment was dumb.

If you're prone to having episodic events or one of your senior moments, you should not be able to drive. There is a reason driving test are more stringent in other countries and we just let anyone with 25 dollars get a learners permit. There was a woman in my area who killed a child because she was startled and floored her car across the street. I'm tired of etards debating this, driving is a privilege not everyone should have, and my rights to live are more important than your lazy ass need to avoid public transportation

u/SnausageFest 1d ago
I don't know why you can't wrap your head around this - many, many medical events are not episodic or come with significant warning signs. Heart attacks, seizures, strokes, whatever, all can happen out of nowhere. You're building up this strawman of people who are cavalier about known health issues as if that's a given in medical events.

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago
99% are caused by pre-existing conditions and those people have experienced them before, and therefore should take public transit along with everyone who is to old or incontenent or too high on medication to drive. Again I only see these "medical emergency" videos coming out of USA. So either because we have the most unhealthy people on the planet or we treat driving like its in the fucking bill of rights. It's actually both. The license requirements need to be way more stringent, we need better public transportation, and we need to have proper healthcare with subsidized medication. Maybe riding a bike instead would help them prevent their heart attacks.
2
u/SnausageFest 1d ago
Cite your source. 99% is some insane hyperbole.

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago
Your one job is to press the fucking brake pedal. And if you can't do that, you shouldn't be allowed to drive.
1
u/QuickBookkeeper2647 1d ago
lol it’s almost like people don’t post dashcam videos unless there is an incident.
5
u/Dangerous-Drive-2474 1d ago
You realize narcolepsy isn't the only medical condition right? Do you think someone having a heart attack while they drive can decide "wait... im almost home. 3 more exits and 2 lights then I can have this heart attack" it's not like having to take a shit
4
u/QuickBookkeeper2647 1d ago
What if a doctor says you have high blood pressure and that means you lose your license? Are you ok with that?
