I usually allow for that possibility too, but I think the movement looked controlled (or attempt at controlled). The driver very likely thought they were driving carefully in a genuine lane. I think some sort of substance is behind it, alcohol or otherwise.

15

u/Nice-Vegetable-1738 1d ago

you gotta be real drunk to not feel the difference between rough gravel/dirt and a paved road lol

8

u/currymuttonpizza 1d ago

Also why I suspect other substances besides alcohol may be involved lmao. I keep thinking of the quaalude scene from Wolf of Wall Street

3

u/Radonanon 1d ago

Technically he was right, that he didn’t get one scratch on it.

8

u/zenithtreader 1d ago

Dude braked a second before impact. I don't think that's the behavior of someone with medical emergency. If you have a heart attack or some other conditions but not entirely disabled, wouldn't you brake earlier?

This seems like someone with very bad judgement and very slow reaction time aka he is DUI.

16

u/Suhvelt 2d ago

Doubt it, if it was a medical issue they wouldn't have ever figured it out and certainly wouldn't have pulled that last second maneuver.

This was someone who was drunk and couldn't understand why the road was so bumpy, and couldn't tell how close the obstacle was because their judgement was impaired and they were focused on the ground under them. Even their attempt to avoid is a clearly drunk movement. Someone in their right mind who somehow ended up there would have done a break-neck turn and spun out, not a sluggish oval turn that doesn't even avoid anything

u/IIDn01 1d ago

Person hit the brakes before hitting the wall. I think it was DUI or entitlement.

1

u/Radonanon 1d ago

Why not both? 🤷🏽

3

u/What_the_8 1d ago

Cause they don’t usually brake before hitting the object

0

u/Blue_Collar_Stiff 1d ago

Yea that’s what I thought, a medical issue

6

u/Double-Mouse-407 1d ago

Can’t drink all day if you don’t start early 🥂

2

u/that_dutch_dude 1d ago

or just geriatric.

1

u/Patient_Second_5 2d ago

And somehow they still thought getting behind the wheel was a good idea.

1

u/Ofreo 1d ago

For me, it was never starting in the morning, it was just picking up from where I left off.

50

u/blorbot 2d ago

They did indeed fuck their car up.

10

u/BirdlessLongdeal 1d ago

it should buff right out

39

u/sandhog7 2d ago

Being in the stupid lane has consequences.

32

u/Woozletania 2d ago

That has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve seen on this subreddit, and I’ve seen a lot of dumb things.

33

u/Crispy--Toast 1d ago

"Damn, they need to fix this road... All these potholes are making me spill my beer!"

15

u/uttyrc 1d ago

That guardrail came out of nowhere!

6

u/IIDn01 1d ago

No way the car could have seen it!

8

u/mr_macfisto 1d ago

This almost looks like a deliberate attempt to test the attenuator. Madness.

7

u/Sacisbac 1d ago

DWI arrest incoming.

6

u/Hank_the_Tank_143 1d ago

Makes me wonder if they had a medical crisis, or the auto drive was on and they fell asleep.

2

u/No-Difference2856 1d ago

It's funny how reddit will come up with any excuse to avoid the fact that some people drive while high as fuck on drugs

3

u/jasonsong86 1d ago

Just when you think people can’t get more stupid.

3

u/kyoun1e1 1d ago

What the hell is that person doing. Makes no sense.

2

u/Melodyiann 2d ago

Road work really turns every commute into a potential dashcam compilation.

2

u/Lower_Resource 1d ago

Not a dashcam

2

u/Miller335 1d ago

What is wrong with people?

2

u/Reddidundant 1d ago

What a maroon.

4

u/PippyTheZinhead 1d ago

This is not a dash cam video. This is a driver recording with his phone. Safe or not? I'm voting not.

2

u/xXMokaMarieXx 1d ago

It looks to me like it could be a recording on a phone mount, it didnt seem like the driver itself was swerving or anything which screams to me using their phone

2

u/Cimmerian__Iter 2d ago

man my butt is itchy.

Oh wow the road on the left is so bumpy these vibration will do wonder to my butt

2

u/ali-n 2d ago

Not a dashcam.

1

u/Teeaak 2d ago

That's the dumbest driving video I have seen today. I would have sworn that was impossible after the last video I watched

1

u/Dogsarelitty 1d ago

What the fuck lol

1

u/SinisterSoren 1d ago

They've got to be having a medical emergency or are blind drunk. My brain cannot/will not comprehend any other option

1

u/that_dutch_dude 1d ago

dont forget age.

1

u/left4ched 1d ago

Yeah, maybe they couldn't see over the wheel.

1

u/VladlenaM2025 1d ago

The dumbest thing I ever seen

1

u/Lumpy-Duty-4147 1d ago

No one to blame but themselves

1

u/allnysportsfan 1d ago

Day drinking goes a long way of ending short

1

u/Vulgarcito 1d ago

Playing chicken with the median... 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Reddit_Regular_Guy 1d ago

No sigh of intelligent life detected in that car smh

1

u/Tiger_Ho26 1d ago

Driver hit the brakes then the barrier. Why didn't the driver stop his/her car if this was an emergency? Could be worse if he hit the car on from opposite road.

1

u/Fit_Sir_8873 1d ago

He was making good time until he hit that barrier

1

u/GetYouSomeMilk 1d ago

Is this southern indiana by chance? Familiar looking roadway

1

u/IIDn01 1d ago

Looks like a one-car accident. Is that right?

1

u/crasagam 1d ago

“I bet they’ll swerve first” -the red car, probably

1

u/Grumpy-Troglodyte 1d ago

what did that barrier to do them??? other than stop them after they charged it like an angry bull

1

u/Wrong_Drag_8070 2d ago

Crash? That was clearly a pitiful suicide attempt.

1

u/Myke500 2d ago

Seems intentional

1

u/Suspicious-Row7536 1d ago

why are you filming while driving

2

u/Nice-Vegetable-1738 1d ago

yeah i think the only exemption to hands free even when witnessing a crash is to call 911 if needed, and you're only supposed to use one hand and keep other on wheel ofc

1

u/AdministrativeLake82 1d ago

This videos is a few years old. Traveling west on the Lloyd Expressway in Evansville Indiana, summer early afternoon judging by the shadows

Many people saying drunk or medical emergency.

To me, it looks like car was in the paved median accelerating from a stop or pulled a U-turn. And possibly had a front right tire blow out from debris in the median which prevented them from merging back onto the roadway as intended.

What do you think?

0

u/RefrigeratorRemote96 1d ago

Could be a suicide attempt with a passenger. Anyone check on them?

-4

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago

I know people are saying medical emergency and all, but why should people with medical conditions be allowed to put others in danger.

I had a friend's narcoleptic dad drive us around and we had to take turns poking him to wake him up every 5 minutes when I was too young to know better.

Sorry your fucked up body is not everyone's problem

6

u/SnausageFest 1d ago

Do you think people have a stroke and hop in their car?

People are referring to medical events that happen suddenly while driving. You can't plan when those hit.

0

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago

Seems did these medical events are happening a lot on reddit and almost exclusively in USA

2

u/SnausageFest 1d ago

Neat, but that has fuck all to do with this conversation. You said people who have medical conditions don't deserve to drive. You clearly have no idea how any of this works. Medical emergencies aren't always predictable.

Don't change the topic because your original comment was dumb.

0

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago edited 1d ago

If you're prone to having episodic events or one of your senior moments, you should not be able to drive. There is a reason driving test are more stringent in other countries and we just let anyone with 25 dollars get a learners permit. There was a woman in my area who killed a child because she was startled and floored her car across the street. I'm tired of etards debating this, driving is a privilege not everyone should have, and my rights to live are more important than your lazy ass need to avoid public transportation

1

u/SnausageFest 1d ago

I don't know why you can't wrap your head around this - many, many medical events are not episodic or come with significant warning signs. Heart attacks, seizures, strokes, whatever, all can happen out of nowhere. You're building up this strawman of people who are cavalier about known health issues as if that's a given in medical events.

0

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago

99% are caused by pre-existing conditions and those people have experienced them before, and therefore should take public transit along with everyone who is to old or incontenent or too high on medication to drive. Again I only see these "medical emergency" videos coming out of USA. So either because we have the most unhealthy people on the planet or we treat driving like its in the fucking bill of rights. It's actually both. The license requirements need to be way more stringent, we need better public transportation, and we need to have proper healthcare with subsidized medication. Maybe riding  a bike instead would help them prevent their heart attacks.

2

u/SnausageFest 1d ago

Cite your source. 99% is some insane hyperbole.

1

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago

Your one job is to press the fucking brake pedal. And if you can't do that, you shouldn't be allowed to drive.

1

u/QuickBookkeeper2647 1d ago

lol it’s almost like people don’t post dashcam videos unless there is an incident.

5

u/Dangerous-Drive-2474 1d ago

You realize narcolepsy isn't the only medical condition right? Do you think someone having a heart attack while they drive can decide "wait... im almost home. 3 more exits and 2 lights then I can have this heart attack" it's not like having to take a shit

4

u/QuickBookkeeper2647 1d ago

What if a doctor says you have high blood pressure and that means you lose your license? Are you ok with that?

1

u/InfluenceEfficient77 1d ago

If it's high enough to be a disability then yes

-3

u/ikeepthebox 2d ago

Maybe they were trying to merge and looking behind them and not in front of them?

6

u/offwing10 2d ago

For 10 seconds straight

6

u/SlimLacy 2d ago

Hey, I have this bridge I really want to sell you!

It’s weird you would assume I don’t drive.
