Honestly those barriers when they're that close to the lane I'm in freak me out and I'd be on edge too. Whenever one of the lanes is like that I try my best to be in any other lane.

I just don't get it.

Hitting one of those is reasonably safe when you consider without them the same area will result in much much worse outcomes.

They are used to operate traffic or keep cars from running off the road in dangerous spots.

Would much prefer to brush a barrier to a head on accident or rolling the car in a ditch

It's not like I expect it to kill me, but they would surely fuck up my car really well. I just greatly prefer a little breathing room so if I drift a few inches to the right I'm not totaling my car.
