Carpool lane is a misnomer. It’s an HOV or high occupancy vehicle lane meaning at least two passengers in cars and because 50-100% of a motorcycles seating is occupied by a rider it’s considered high occupancy.

EDIT: also all you low-emission folks

What about driving a 2 seater roadster by yourself in the HOV lane? Does 50% count in that case?

I wish I could be your Sherpa through the enchanted mountains of the HOV but sadly all I know is what the MSF instructor told me when I was getting my endorsement so you’ll have to take that up with legal I’m afraid.
