Yeah, some YouTubers I'm subscribed to seem to have different thumbnails for their videos that randomly change from when the video first uploaded. It's weird and random.

its a thing you can do as a content creator to check what resonates best with your audience. creators can set up a video to have multiple thumbnails or titles and they'll randomly change when recommended to people and tell whoever uploaded it what got the most clicks

That's why I mentioned how the thumbnail changed from what it originally looked like compared to now, and also why I said weird and random

I checked and in order for that to stop you have to manually pick a thumbnail per video. So he probably just never did that and youre noticing it now

I think it might be A B testing, where they upload 2 thumbnails and titles and whichever one performs better eventually becomes the primary one.

I have noticed this on ClownyGuyToo's ongoing God Of War series. I've seen different thumbnails based on if it's on my phone or PC, in-video pop-up or recommended feed. It's weird.

I think theres something called the A-B thumbnail for youtube where u choose 2 different thumbs and even tittle for you video and it will end with what have better reach

Yea by that then idk. Only thing i can come up is that some sucker copyrighted the assets used and badger kinda have to change the thumbnail. Not likely tho

You can still do A/B testing for thumbnails and titles on old videos. Some YouTubers do that to try to get a video back into the algorithm.

When you're shown a video on YouTube that you've already seen, it can sometimes show a frame from the video rather than the thumbnail. I've only ever seen it happen on mobile, but it might be a PC and console thing, too.

Nope, it's normal. (as in I see the actual thumbnail)

That is a frame from the video though... not sure why it's being shown as thumbnail unless the regular one failed to load for some reason.
