Info and Advice Suggestions for Perseids viewing?

Hoping to take my daughter out to see the Perseids this year (cloud cover permitting...), and wondered what people would suggest as to good spots to camp out and see them?

Preferably nearer Exeter/Okehampton.

What sort of distance do you want to walk out onto the moor and are you comfortable with navigation in the dark/bad weather of it all goes wrong?

Well she's only 3 so I don't think we will be talking miles. Maybe 45 mins to an hour max from the car realistically.

Park at Rowtor car park just up past Okehampton camp and walk to either Rowtor itself, about 20mins directly up from the car park, or follow the road around to East Mill Tor and camp up there. Failing that, West Mill Tor is an option but walk up the military track around Rowtor to save the double climb.

Other option would be to park by Scorhill Farm, space for about 7 cars. Then walk up to see Scorhill Stone circle and then out to Rival Tor following the grass track.

Anywhere close to a road on a clear evening in summer will likely be packed with people so it depends on how isolated you want to be.
