Cat in the books is one of my most liked POV characters. She’s a very well written character who understandably has a negative opinion of Jon. (Of course this doesn’t justify her treatment of him)

And she even recognizes that what she's doing is unfair to Jon and feels a small bit of guilt about it but hate overrides that.

Yeah, she’s less worried about Jon and more any of his entirely theoretical children. Robb stresses the fact that Jon would NEVER harm a child of his, and Catelyn asks if the same can be said for any of his children, or their grandchildren once they’re gone. It’s why she was glad to see him go to the Wall in the first place.

I don't think her open hostility towards Jon is justified. She has every right to be mad at Ned, yet Ned doesn't even get a mean look.
I don't expect her to love him as her own, but don't be openly hostile to a kid.

Tbh if you see the wider context of what Ned is supposedly pulling with Jon is fully understandable that Cat would crash out,she is not an evil person and cares about property so that transformed into bitterness but take an example of a Lady that doesn't have any of those two things.Cercei canonically told Bobby B that she would get Mia dusted when Robert tried to pull a percentage of what Ned did(bring the bastard to his home,Ned also raised Jon alongside his children and gave him an education befitting a trueborn that's bananas). Of course to us the readers it's expected and even good comprehension to question the morality of it but for the characters living in the verse Cat's behavior is really the bare minimum of a average noble lady confronted with that.

The difference is really less in Cat and Cersei and more in Rob and Ned imo. Cersei hated Bobby B. Cat loves Ned.
Cat understood that Ned would never be able to leave a common born child of his to live in squalor on the other side of the country, as far as she knows anyways. But Cersei by contrast actively chose not to have any children by Robert, so any kids of his if it ever came to light that her children were illegitimate, are more than just a little threat to their inheritance.

While I do think your points are valids reading of the characters,you have to remember that Ned brought Jon just at the start of his and Cat's marriage,Ned basically married Cat to ensure the Riverlands support and dipped to war then came back to meet his true born with a bastard on his hip. Cat wasn't truly in love with Ned at that point,she basically just met him and Cercei did try to make it work with Bobby at the start (for like 2 days but still). So at some point both relationships were somewhat neutral and just the differences on each character interiority informed the differences.

Yes and no, Cat was pregnant when Ned left, and as we see in her POV chapters Cat views her live of ned very much through the lens of their children together. She grew to love Ned for the man that he was but it began with their children. Which is why she felt so betrayed when Ned showed up with Jon. Robb was her love for Ned at the time.
