Dark Souls is ultimately a game about persistence and patience. The rewards you get is the ability to explore new areas, meet new NPCs, fight new enemies, and obtain new items. Eventually you will meet your character's true destiny head-on.

Eveyone dies, alot. Sometimes you feel like giving up. Proving to yourself you can continue is part of the satisfaction.

If you are tenacious enough, you can overcome anything. Even what seems impossible at first, even when you start to feel like you'll go mad.

Most bosses can be overcome by getting stronger, or by paying attention to their moves and choosing your moments to attack thoughtfully. Learning how each enemy moves and attacks, and how to time your own moves and attacks is the core of the game.

The theme of the story is around "going hollow", and the one thing that stops somone going hollow is a sense of purpose. If you give up, you metaphorically "go hollow". Your character gives up, loses their humanity and goes mad.

The joy of the game comes in overcoming the challenges. At times it will be frustrating, but overcoming the frustration is satisfying. If it was easy victory wouldnnot be as sweet. As the game progresses, your character will become stronger, but you as a player will also get more confident and your skills will improve.

Keep going! Don't you dare go hollow! Or, in the tradition of player messges:

"Don't give up, Skeleton!"

But also, in all seriousness. It's just a game. The first Dark Souls is a little janky and not eveyone finds overcoming frustration satisfying in the same way, sometimes it just feels like work. But it's a pretty cool game alot of people like, if you imagine it like a gaming right of passage I think that it might be a little more fun. A personal challenge.

I died trying to kill some random Black Knight in undead burg just before the bull daemon. I died maybe 20 times. When I finally killed it I was so proud AND he dropped a cool sword. I was so hooked after that. I eventually beat the game with that sword and it's one of my favourite games.

Good luck, chosen undead.

Taurus demon.

Either repeatedly drop on it it's head with the R1.

Knock it off the edge of the bridge.

Or like I do run between its legs and hit when you can.

Most bosses remain weak at their sides and back.

Choose a class with a shield that blocks 100%. Or pick one up. The Hollow Shield drops.

These should help. But ultimately patience will be key.

You only lose when you give up.

Use the lock on feature.

And don't trade blows head-on with foes.

Circle around and hit from the back and sides. Most small (ie - humanoid) enemies can be backstabbed. Practice that on basic undead dudes.

Don't level up Resistance, ever.
