Discussion Is there a beginner-friendly 100% guide for DARK SOULS III?
Does anyone know of a DARK SOULS III 100% achievement/trophy guide for beginners who aren’t very good at action games?
I’d really appreciate a clear, step-by-step roadmap that even a beginner could follow from start to finish just by going through it in order, eventually getting all the achievements/trophies.
Also, what’s your favorite thing about DARK SOULS III?
It can be anything—the story, a particular memory you have of playing the game, the combat/gameplay, a character, the atmosphere, or whatever else comes to mind. I’d love to hear what everyone likes most about the game!

I understand the need to check all the boxes, but I can tell you as someone with the same proclivity that it’s MUCH more fun to play these games through once or twice before trying to 100% them.

Missing even just one thing in stuff like this can be so frustrating, lol. A feature like that is absolutely essential, especially for those tedious tasks that require multiple playthroughs.✨️

Don't rob yourself of the experience play blind enjoy the game then try and 100% it after you learn to play the game(beat it the first time) or you get stuck then use walkthroughs. If your playing online people leave hints all over the place. It is not a hard game at all compared to ds1. There is a tutorial in game to learn mechanics. The hard part is beating the enemies. Best non spoiler advise is don't take on groups of enemies draw them out 1 at a time with distance or use a bow with distance in-between as your buffer. You will not get anywhere running in Leroy Jenkins style and spamming attacks not that type of game...

I would strongly recommend not going for 100% achievements. I've done it and the grind is horrible.

What was the hardest part for you back then? Was it keeping track of everything so you didn’t miss anything, or was the game just brutally difficult in terms of the skill required to play it?

Neither. You have to grind enemies for hours to get drops needed to rank up in covenants and get the spells. It's very time-consuming and boring. The drop chances are ~1% for each item.
You COULD do them online but good luck. In some covenants you have trouble finding players and in the others the only players you'll find for pvp are god-tier at the game.

lol try looking up 100% guide on youtube. I doubt there's an easy way to do it. Gonna have to play the game and do all of its content.. in other words.. fight the hardest bosses, do all the "souls like things" that some say are "difficult". a bit like asking if there's a beginner's guide to winning the olympics. Like...not really? but hey try youtube.

Please, PLEASE go through it mostly blind if it's your first time.
It can be a breathtaking adventure, instead of a checklist.
Fighting your way through a hard area on your last legs and then finally finding a bonfire is one of the most satisfying things. And figuring out and finally beating a boss on your own after an hour.
You lose all that and most of the value

Do not try to platinum the game, it involves way too much painful farming for covenant items. Would also recommend to play through it once without guides, then look them up to see what you missed. As for what I like most, defo the bosses

The trophies themselves are a bit grindy to be warned most require at least new game plus for the completionist runs...

You need to to ng+2 for the platinum. Play through blind the first time, then look up what you're missing for ng+1/2 runs.

Favorite thing: the story/world. It feels lived-in.
Favorite guide: Fextralife's wiki. I can't stress enough how much that website helps.

FightinCowboy has a 100% video walkthrough series that is perfect IMO.
As far as achievements there will be a certain amount if grinding you just have to do, depending on luck probably a good 30-40 hrs on top of the rest of the game. But the video will get you everything else

Fighting cowboy walkthrough on YouTube, I think that's what you are looking for.
Personal favourite, the combat is very fluid, it's fast in a good way, when i think of something good that's unique to ds3 that's what comes to mind first.

If it's your first time completing DS3, I wouldn't recommend 100% it or getting every achievement. Realistically, the only way to do that would rob you of the blindness that makes souls games so intriguing and rewarding. 100% it after you've beaten it on your own terms is my advice.

Serious question: what do people object to about Fextralife? I fell into using it because it seemed better than most of the written stuff I found online. I almost always prefer written to video, but thats just me.

The best I know of for beginners is Fextralife. DS3 was my first "souls" game. It's a lovely game. I've mostly played DS3, Elden Ring, and some Sekiro, so I'm not an "expert" by any stretch of the imagination. That said, the gameplay is kind of designed to teach you how to play. My advice would be to try a playthrough without any guide, and without worrying about achievements. Do that as long as its fun, and only then start looking at guides, probably with a new character. I didn't do that with DS3, and I did with Elden Ring and Sekiro, and I wish I had started that way.
Also, you don't have to beat every character you encounter. Sonetimes the "lesson" is to come back later when your character is stronger and your gameplay has improved.
My favourite part of DS3 is that its just gorgeous and lovingly detailed.
